    Hi All
I have just purchased a red 4door 2014 SR5 4.6 2wd from a Toyota dealership which will be shipped to me this weekend.
It looks immaculate from the photos with 77,000 kilometres and service history is perfect.
I have asked for their technician to check the cam tower for leaks but there might be other things that need to be verified before it leaves the dealer.
I have not purchased an extended warranty
    Thanks for your input

Without hiring an appraiser or an independent mechanic have a look, (they are available for hire) I would be both full of anticipation and a bit nervous. Like having purchased a Mail order bride! (Without the photoshopped pics). Did you have a talk with the Ex? Some dealerships will facilitate that by giving you the name and number if they did business with the owner. Can’t hurt to ask. Also, many states have an implied warranty with an auto purchase that is not sold “as-is.

I did consider hiring an independent 3rd party. However I managed to see the only graze in the paintwork, and that was on the tray, and is minuscule.
I spoke with the rep that sold it new and he seems to have a good relationship with the owner. The rep said his customer continued to drive the truck with the plastic covers on the interior parts, and the scheduled oil change intervals are even more meticulous! (viewed via the carfax) I doubt it has been used as a worktruck for hauling, so I'm confident it will come as expected sans any camtower leaks or such.

But once it gets off the train.....we shall see... :fingerscrossed:

For some reason vehicles out eastern Canada are way cheaper than the west coast. I purchased my Ducati the same way.
In Vancouver most everything is inflated

If it’s coming from Ontario / Quebec, then rust /corrosion would be a major concern for me.

5 years there is like 10 to 15 here.

2 wheel drive? Is there still time to cancel the sale?

Amazing. I live out on the East Coast and grew up across the river from Edmunston, NB. Back in the day, we would walk across the bridge with barely a nod. Nephew is living in Vancouver and loves it.

Rust is a concern for sure. I will likely have it sprayed with inhibitor. I have yet to see anyone complaining of a rusty 3rd gen tundra. I hear eastern provinces spray the roads with salt
I have read "Vehicles are covered up to 12 years from the day of sale."
    Is that true?

Looks brand new other than the gap around the front bumper

Yes I'm please with the vehicle so far. The interior is immaculate and paint is just as good. The undercarriage has been protected 4 times. Only issue was leaky front shocks which I replaced with Bilsteins. The dealership will be paying for that. I'm also trying to get all the keys and fobs since they only sent one. Although the truck is great Ill be giving Mendes/Bank Street Toyota Ottawa a black mark for their sales performance. By far the worst major purchase I have ever made.

Glad it worked out for you. It’s a very beautiful looking truck! Set of front shocks is a plus .
