At the expense of potentially getting crucified for suggesting not purchasing a Toyota....would love to know what people think about the new Kia Telluride.

First...I would not be getting rid of my truck, it’s mine! It looks like a hell of an SUV and I’m looking at it for my wife in the top trim and AWD. Seems hard to beat a 10yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. It is well above all the other segment options including the Highlander and looks better than it’s twin the Hyundai Palisade. Talked to an owner I ran into here in Great Falls from Georgia, said it is beyond a better and nicer vehicle than his Volvo XC90 ever was. Lemme know what you think!

I seen them. they do look good and the 10 year/100,000 miles is hard to beat.
They should change their brand name for the US market though...KIA....o_O

Agreed, or at least the badging. It’s made in the USA in Georgia too which is nice. Basically made for the US market and I think it would be a great family hauler for the wife and future kiddos as we’re thinking of starting a family in the next couple of years

It has black wheels. I wouldn't do it.

 I knew that was going to come up somehow. Black wheels come on the top trim. I’d probably get them powder coated a different color eventually....then again I’d rather spend the money on Tundra mods! Hahahaha

The Telluride has been getting a lot of good reviews. On a side note just read on my news feed that JD power ranks Korean cars beating US and Germany in quality.

I haven't had much experience with this brand of vehicle but I have a weird feeling about driving a vehicle that has the abbreviation of Killed in Action

Seems like a nice ride. I’ll be in the market for the wife in a couple years and this will probably make the short list.

My wife currently drives a KIA Sorento and it's been a great vehicle. Recently she's been talking about getting a Telluride, so wo may be going for a test ride sooner than later.

Co-worker test drove one with hopes of buying. Said it was reaaallly nice and nicer than his Mercedes SUV. But Kia dealer did not want to give him a few hundred bucks more for his trade-in so he walked.

Rumor in my neck of the woods (southern Indiana) is that they are going for right at, or slightly above, sticker price. For a Kia... I agree they look nice and the tech seems really well done, but i want to see how they last 3 - 5 years from now before I would consider purchasing one.

Meh.....I’d rather get a used Lexus GX460 or landcruiser(2013-2015) models. There’s something about quality, durability and solidly built vehicles made in Japan.

KIA's are known to be very reliable over the long run. The Telluride is getting rave reviews and as mentioned it is made here.

Cant beat that warranty. It is the first run of the vehicle, we are looking at other SUV options outside the highlander, i would love to get a 4runner but it too suffers from delayed content syndrome so maybe the 2020 will be a bit more in tune with the times.

I was in the market for a 3 row SUV for the longest time. While the Telluride looks great, there is no way I'm paying sticker or a premium on it. Just like how dealers were selling Stinger GTs for a premium, it's about 10k off MSRP a year or two after the release.

Anyways, I settled on a used Sequoia as my 3 row SUV. Other options I was seriously considering were the Highlander, Pilot and Explorer but the Sequoia won over the size, V8 engine, and reliability.

Kia's are pretty much all my wife's family buys. They are actually very nice vehicles. Pretty soon I'll have to get my wife a new SUV, so I've been looking at these, the 4 runner and Sequoia.

After watching the review through Redline, I actually wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Though due to the family size, i don't think a crossover will work for me anymore. Kinda why i have been keeping a lookout for a good deal on either a Sequoia or a QX80...

Family size of course must match so I get what you’re saying, for us it would be the one and eventually 2 kids and a dog for the near future but you never know. I’d stay away from anything with a CVT if you’re going to keep the vehicle long term. My wife currently has a 2010 Nissan Altima and while it’s a great car, at about 100,000 miles it needed a new transmission. Would have kept running but it experienced a strange lag and then sudden clutch like engagement situation. Thankfully somehow it fell under an extended warranty because Nissan had a bad batch go out and that’s why it was having those symptoms, cost me nothing but it would have been a $6k job at the dealer. If that was the case I would have dumped it or driven it till it blew up.

I also like the Kia for its “simplicity” in drivetrain. N/A motor (no turbos to take a crap) and an 8 speed trans (cvt...yuck)

None...would be my wife’s family hauler and road queen to take on road trips and such. Tundra will get all the tire love.

You betcha! Honestly I want something that I’ll enjoy driving as well...because I end up driving 95% of the time anytime we go anywhere together. My wife also has to like the vehicle and feel comfortable in it.

It’s currently between this and a loaded out Durango R/T. For less money I get more tech/active safety features which would be a good idea for my wife to have, as well as a 360 degree camera system which I can’t get on the Durango. Yes....the Durango is a V8 and looks badass, but the Telluride has a nice masculinity to it as well and I’m not looking for ultimate performance in the family ride as I am comfort and usability. Having heated and cooled second row seats in the Telluride is also a plus. Lastly, the warranty is better.

We take my truck on road trips now not because it gets better mileage than my wife’s car but because it is more comfortable, more spacious, and quieter on the highway

Telluride's are very popular. They cannot get them in fast enough to the dealer where my son works.

Wife's vehicle is a 2017 KIA Sorento SXL. Love the interior! It's been comfortable and trouble-free...not one trip to dealer for anything. Note that the 10-year or 100K-mile warranty is only valid with the original buyer. I plan to keep it and the Tundra for a LONG time.
