I need some help, as when it comes to tires and wheels, I get very lost. I am getting my 2013 Tundra Crew Max lifted with a 3" lift kit. But I can not seem to decide on what tires to go with and and then get wheels.

Right now I have 275/65 R18 tires on the truck that came with it. I want to get different tires to get another inch or so to get more hight if I can.

I friend suggested going with 285/75 R18 tires. These seem very hard to find. Someone else recommended 35 x 12.5 R18, but I did not know if that gets me more hight as I do not understand the tire size this way.

I do not want the tires to stick out a lot, so I was also told to stay around a 30 to 35 offset on the wheels. I would like to stay with my stock steel rims as they are very nice, but I can not seem to find out for sure if I can stay with those if I want to get a bigger tire to get the tuck more height and rigid look....they said if I stay with that rim, I might have to get trimming done...whatever that is, and it does not sound good or easy.

Also for the tires, I would like a rigid look, but not loud tires. I was told to check the Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx or the BF Goodwrench AT 02...but neither of these brands seem to have the 285/75 R18.

So I am looking for advise here, and just not sure which path to go. Any help would be apriciated. Thank You

The only 285/75-18 tire I know of for sure is the Toyo RT's, but now that I say that I think Nitto might make a tire in that size. I'm assuming the steel rims you have are the stock ones? If so you'all need spacers due to the high offset that factory wheels generally have. With spacers like the Boras it'll put you around an 18mm offset, so you'all stick out an inch or two if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Nitto makes Terra Grappler G2s in 285/75.

Best of luck with your search man, it took me a lot of research on here to figure out what I wanted. And I'm still trying to decide between ST Maxx's or Ridge Grapplers! Ha. At least I've got the rims and lift figured out.

Stock tires are 32 inches in diameter. If you are interested just one more inch, 275/70/18 will get you there. You have more tire options in that size also. 285/75/18 is very close to 35 inches in diameter. You have to decide how much larger than stock you want to go.

    I have a 3/1 and 275/70r18's. I think they're just a little too small. I would go with 295/70r18.

Whatever type (at or mt) is entirely up to you.

Like Law said, 295/70/18 should be the ticket. Fits on stock wheels and will give you more height. Plus there are more options in that size.

Wow, Thank you all for the responses, you all have some good information. For the 295/70/18 that fit stock rims, I assume that I will not have to deal with the trimming some were talking with me about, correct?

Nope its narrow enough where you wont have to trim, but probably will need to remove the useless front mudflap.

I had the same dilemma as you. Ended up with 305/65/18. Fit with very minor trimming. check my build thread if you want more details.

These guys are giving you great advice. The "trimming" can sometimes be accomplished with a heat gun. Just heat the affected areas of the liner in your wheel well and reform, a project on my to do list. I've got stock wheels, 1.25" spacers and 3" of lift and 295 70 18 Cooper stt pro tires. That's a 34.5" tall tire. I had to remove the front and rear mud flaps and still need to do a "reforming" of the liner. Actual tire sizes vary between manufacturers. They might have the same numbers and be .5" different in actual size. You can usually find this info on the manufacturers web site.

For the 295/75/ R18, will those stick out much? I really did not want the tire to stick out a lot? I would rather it be a tittle taller that wider where it stick out....would want it more flush with the truck if possible????

My tires, with the wheel spacers stick out about 1.5". It looks like I could remove the 1.25" spacers and the tires would still work. Hopefully, someone else can verify this.

With your stock offset and no spacers they will stick out a little bit but nothing serious. If you wanna know precisely how much they stick out you could get a pretty good estimate by looking up the specs on your current tires as well as the new ones. Subtract the width of your current ones from the width of your new ones and divide by 2.

I'm going with nitto exo grapplers, 285/70/18 on stock trd wheels with 2.5 lift. These are one of the only tires available in that size. They're 11.5x34. Guy at discount said they should fit. Guess I'll find out once they're on the truck if I have to do any trimming. Harrisdoggy on here got them for his with 2 inch lift and aftermarket wheels. He had to do some trimming, but that might be because his wheels stick out more. The farther out your wheels are the farther they travel forward and back when you turn, causing them to contact the outer fender well more. What I'm worried about with stock wheels is possible frame contact. I can trim my skidplate, but not the frame! What do you do about that, adjust the steering stops? Then you loose some of the awesomely tight turning radius these trucks have. Hmm, the stuff we get ourselves into.

Is there an adjustable steering stop?

So I have on my truck now the 275/65 R18's.
What would be a step up from that to make the truck go up in height, but not go wider..... Would it be a 275/70 R18?

Again I am putting on a 3" lift but do not want the ones I have on there now to look too dinky, but do not want them so big they stick out

Want it to go up in height just a little without going wider or not much wider. This way I can keep my stock rims, get a little more height and not go wider and have to have spacers, trimming and etc..... Just trying to see the best way to do this? Open to any suggestions......

I have 275/70r18's on my 3/1. I think they look a little small but not bad.

That'll give you about 1" on the tire, but only about 1/2" on lift and filling the wheel well

Ok so it raises it 1/2 an inch...so if I got a 3" lift, it is like getting a 3 1/2 inch lift?

The lift is still only 3" but your truck will be 3.5" higher than before lift.

Those tire's are toyo open country AT's

There aren't any 275/75r18's. You'd have to go with 285/75 or 295/70 (both essentially 34's)
