Did you ask optimum how to remove it. I'm curious what they say.

I sent an email this morning with pictures, asking if they could tell what caused it. @Pudge did get a response on removal in a previous post.

Make sure you clean the shit out of those tires. If you have shine supply wise guy, that's your best bet, clean them 3 or 4 times over. Whatever you may have for a cleaner make sure you really get them as perfect as possible. Maybe even rub down with a magic eraser. The coating is absolutely amazing in terms of looks and longevity but its picky when it comes to sticking evenly and will flake off in places. I will still continue to use it but I will bemore careful about cleaning

I haven't given up. I will be more diligent now. I actually got a second email back after I replied with my disappointment in the flaking and inability to remove. The guy was kinda testy

Sean, TPC is a Coating, not a tire dressing, and has 6 - 12 months durability. For that longevity it needs to be robust and not easily removed by chemicals. If you liked the results and recommended it to friends, why do you want to remove it? Like all serious products, TPC has a learning curve and correct application is essential for great results. I indicated it's difficult to remove, not impossible, and TAR is the best way to accomplish that. I'm attaching a video that shows proper application::

    hope this helps...

I just watched the video, so is this to thick? It’s very blue, in the video he said that was to much. Could this be a problem(flaking). I’m just asking, I know nothing about the product yet. 13FCDC96-E2EB-45E2-B19F-ED59D6DC8633.jpg

I think its possible I put it on too heavy but I actually didn't have any flaking issues. I just had a few spots where my sidewalls rubbed sonething and scuffed the sealant off. And one area where I didnt get all the brown tire bloom off so it showed thru. I tried touching up those spots but it didn't look great and was uneven so i figured I should just start fresh and be more careful. I just wanted them perfect, obviously I'm a little OCD lol. But the fact is you really cant strip it off without spending a lot of new products and hours of scrubbing. I ended up doing the best I could to remove as much as I could and i put on 2 fresh coats. It looks great again so I'm happy. I was just pissy yesterday and Saturday from frustration. It's a great product but you have to be sure to follow the steps perfectly

Thanks. I thought I was up to date on this thread, but it looks like I missed a bunch. Sounds like there isn't an easy way to get this stuff off.

This may be a silly question, have you tried a pressure washer to get it off?

That is not silly at all. And no I have not. I thought about it when I was planning on how to attack it, then forgot while I was doing it. And just remembered again now hahaha.
It's a slim chance it would work but very much worth a try. Beats scrubbing for hours

No easy way. So the key is to be sure to do your prep work the right way, then do it again. And known that even if you do prep the right way, it still may flake. We all know that of all people @driverdog Jim did the proper prep work and he still had issues.

All that said, its still worth the risk and effort. When done right, its amazing. I mean easy to clean, glossy, tires for 3,4,5+ months with nothing to do to them other than regular cleanings. No more need for tire dressing. It has amazing potential and I'll keep using it

That isnt the area that scuffed, but it's an area that I clearly didn't get clean enough when I used this tire coating the very first time. I didn't have a good tire cleaner then. And I wasnt able to strip the coating off in that area to re clean it.
The second pic is a different tire that I believe I got the cleanest and the coating has always looked the best on

I’ve gotten no response to my inquiry to Optimum. If I get time over the next few days, I’ll attempt to clean up the spots with the brush attachments on my drill. They work pretty great for hard water spots on my shower doors and countertops.

It will clog up the spray nozzle for sure when it dries. the top that it has on it now for dispensing gets clogged. Make sure whatever you use to apply it with, that you wash right away or you'll end up having to throw it out. Because it's a coating, it dries very hard.

You think one of those Magic Erasers with a brush to clean off the magic eraser bits? They seem to work wonders w/o much damage.

I was thinking it may work. I thought of it after a 2 hour battle trying everthing else I could think of. I ended up just recoating the tires, but maybe I'll try the magic eraser on a spot tomorrow

What about mineral spirits or paint thinner to cut the tire coating off.

That's good. I had a few spots like that. I just went over the whole tire really well to clean it and re coated it. Surprisingly it came out pretty even

I'm on my second attempt and so far so good. It's been about 3 weeks. I used shine supply wise guy tire cleaner this time and took extra care and time. No flaking and it's nice and even.

I’ve done several vehicles with it, and only had an issue on one tire. I didn’t get that one clean enough. The bad spot wore off on its own, and I was able to re-do it.

Sure thing. I’ll try and get some when my wife gets home. Hers was done a month or so ago. My two daughters cars were done last weekend. I’m not sure how long it’s been since I applied them on mine.

Jim, I forgot to take pics yesterday. I’ll try to remember this weekend.

I did put some on my original thread. I believe there are updates at 1 week, 2 weeks, and a month.

Took some pics just now. We’re having some rain in the area, so I didn’t clean any of them. Maybe showing them before being washed is a good idea anyway.

Daughter’s car, done a week ago:

Wife’s Sequoia, done just over a month ago:

Mine currently. I’ve lost track of when I did it last.

No problem. For better reference, same tire on my wife’s Sequoia.

June 10th. (Top left was bottom of the tire when applied. Fixed after the photo):

    This was one coat only.

Yes, definitely. One thing that does cause a little trouble though. If you look at my wife’s tire, you see the tiny ridges running around it. ( Bridgestone logo is in this area.) Those type of tires seem more difficult. You have to move the applicator in all directions to make sure you fill those ridges up.
