Found some bed rust when I pulled up the plastic bed liner on my 09 Tundra that I bought a month ago. Suggestions on my best route from here?1A768BFA-7EEF-4A06-AF04-F9855EA38AF7.jpg9836DF8A-FFD9-4BAD-9E5A-C17D3222B0E1.jpg

If you want to do it yourself... Cut out rust. Cut out patch panel. Stitch weld patch panel. Clean up welds. Paint. Clear. Drive. It's a flat piece so it shouldn't be too difficult. Just make sure to cut out a tad more than the rust and make sure to clean up the cuts before welding. Get the patch as close as possible. Use some magnets to hold the panel flush with the bed floor. Go slow on the welding; the heat can warp the metal. After the welding is complete, use a grinder with medium flap disc to smooth out the weld. Use a fine flap disc to clean up any splatter if you're using flux core or hardwire. At this point, you may opt to use some body filler and feather the edges to the good metal. Once smooth, prime, sand down primer, prime again, then spray base, then spray clear (i prefer 2k in a spray can for home use). Allow 24-48 hours to dry. Wet sand, then buff and polish. Will be like new.

I suggest line X it once you repair all the rust. So many times we see the result of those plastic liners.

it doesn't look too bad honestly. Once repaired and coat of Line-X it will look like new.

Yeah i hit up the Toyota dealer where i bought it to see if they’ll do anything(not holding my breath). Thinking I will have to cut out now that I’ve been doing some reading online. Not much of a welder myself so have to see if I can find someone to do that for hopefully not too much. Was scheduled to have have it line x’d today til I found this rust

I put some Rancho stuff in the front.
I will be taking the bed liner out of my 2000 Tundra for the first time since I've owned it (about a year now) and I'm pretty sure I will find some rusted through spots. Can anyone tell me how model specific the bed flooring is? Do they change it with body styles? Is the Tundra's the same as a Tacoma? How about other makes? I helped dad find a 2000 Dodge ram bed to get a piece to patch where his truck had a goose neck hitch at one point.
