Just showed my wife your setup and she is super impressed with the way that you have the plants planted within the pallets!

Thank you. Super easy to do and free! Sure makes planting in rows easy too.

We have found that our tomato and pepper plants do better in their own containers......that means we are already planning next year's grow. We have a chance for storms later today so making sure the damage is minimal is important forethought.

Good luck with the storm, that would make me really mad if my stuff got ruined, and especially if I had a garden like yours.

Look around for pallets in your area, you could stack them, break them up, it's free wood and usually oak which lasts a long time. Easy and cheap way to make separate planters for different plants.

Anyone know how to kill asparagus? I've tried round up, and fire. Neither worked permanently.

It's been a rough year for my garden. I was able to get most the early stuff (onions, peas, carrots, lettuce, spinich, broc, cauli) in mid-April like usual. Then the rain set in and I didn't get everything else (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, brussels sprouts, beans, cukes, eggplant, corn, pumpkins, watermelon) planted until mid-June. Usually everything is in by Mother's Day.

Here was the garden when I woke up yesterday morning after we got 1.5" of rain, 4" in 72hrs, on already saturated soil. And more rain is on the way. The late stuff planted a week ago was just coming up. We'll see if it survives.

    IMG_0765.jpg IMG_0766.jpg

We also have raspberries, grapes, 5 different kinds of apples, pears, peaches, cherries, and blueberries. The blueberries are doing pretty good this year and are just starting to ripen.

How many times have you sprayed it? You may need to hit it 3-4 times a year for a couple years. I would also look into using something in addition to roundup, like 2-4D, which may be more effective one asparagus. But I really don't know for sure...

Look at companion planting, some stuff helps others, some things inhibit others.

I could spray more, but it's right in the middle of the back yard grass. Trying to not kill all the grass. I use 2-4d for weeds and I've soaked it pretty good to no avail.

I come from a farming town, and that is pretty damn impressive for a home garden. Really nice job Ray

    Thanks!
It’s been pretty busy, building, planting and still taking time to go fishing, crabbing, clamming, and mushroom hunting. Plus I have learned how to make old style sourdough bread. Now that my shop is built, I should be able to get the forge and wood working equipment set up. Plan start brewing beer soon also.
Got some artichokes, and Marion berries started this spring too...

Damn you've got a lot of balls in the air man.i thought I was connected with the outdoors by making syrup for 2 months a year and planting flowers and veggies (4ftx 8ft raised bed made of pallets) in my yard. Not even close to what you're doing. Very cool lifestyle but a lot of work to live it. Kudos to you

Hell of a garden man! I also love i'm not the only one that appreciates artichokes. My plant produced like crazy this year, that's why I let a bunch of them flower!
