    Humm,
I didn't see what the RPM is on the literature
I know on light-medium commercial units, Generac will up the RPM to accommodate for a small engine and gear it for the proper alternator RPM.
This will give the engine less life and louder DB.

Seems generac RPM is high in relation to the kohler

In order to produce 60 Hz (cycles), all generator engines must operate (run) in multiples of 1800 rpm's, i.e. 1800, 3600, 5400, etc.

    On a 2 pole alternator 3600RPM is required, On a 4 pole alternator 1800 RPM for 60hz
An engine can always be geared for proper alternator speed.

Standby models are not a consideration.

Will wire these units in via interlock switch. Run most of house depending on time of year, needs etc.

Basically the model i posted is a tweener. Better built and more features than the GP line but doesn’t have the OHVI engine or $$ cost of the XG line.

Getting my mind past the no OHVI engine and oil filter, I think these should do intended job with proper continued maintenance.

Is there another brand or model that I should look at?? Any experience or suggestions? Thx for above replies!!

Thats a pretty good deal on that generator.

We personally have a generac 22kw hooked up to our house. we ran a delay on one of our ac units so it's not trying to power up both at the same time. we have a 500 gallon propane tank we buried when we built the house. It does a test run for 5 minutes every other saturday morning. it has done us well the couple times it's had to be utilized. our neighbor behind us has one too as well as 2 3-ton units and ours can run our whole house no problem for a couple days. i'm happy with it so far

    Agreed!

    Ok. Ordering two units today.

Copper not aluminum windings sealed deal.
    (As per generac CS)

EFI (get a DAP tune?? Lol)
    <5% THD
    9.5-10 hrs per tank
    Low oil shutoff
    Idle control (manual)
    Outlet covers.
    Electric and pull start.

Thanks for feedback. Sort of thinking out loud here and very helpful.

I know you have ordered already, this is mainly a huge vote for dual fuel. This is my set up I bought about 4 years ago after being stuck in an ice storm without power for 4 days because "country living". I have spent the last 4 years watching Craiglist, local sales, and my local dump drop off for cheap / free old LP tanks, take to Wal-mart to exchange for new full for $14.88. I have almost 20 put away. Not one drop of gasoline has ever been in the gen, I have gone 9 months and it always starts because only LP has ever been in it, BUT if I ever need it I have the option. Mine came from Costco, $799ish.
PS- have used for 2.5 days straight, no troubles.

It looks like I’m a little late, but I sell Generac, and can check pricing on Generac products. It’s generally not cost effective for me to sell and ship one, but I can certainly advise on pricing. I’ll say there’s generally very little mark up in them.

I just checked. It’s an incredible deal on it. Even at $999.00 it was a hell of a bargain.

    I thought so but...

Pressure washers, sprayers, hvlp’s, festool Sanders etc I know. Lol generators not so much.

One is for me as I’m in process of moving to South Carolina. The other I’m building a shed and dropping an interlock at 91 yr old moms in Connecticut. (Friends will pop by and make sure it’s running when needed)

The Champion was intriguing but this model Generac was better fit as no propane is on her property.

    Thanks everyone for input!!!

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
I have one of these, only complaint is the thing is loud.
Use it for the same purpose, backup to my house power in the event of sustained power outage.
runs great on propane and gas, its a little slow to start when switching between the two fuel types.
