Hello, so I'm a brand new tundra owner. 2019 tundra CM. So this is my wkend truck. I notice that when I turn on the truck for the first time (at anytime) and turn on the AC I hear a clank noise coming from the engine area. Is this normal on a tundra? It only makes it the very first time I turn on the truck.

No, definitely not normal. My truck has made that exact sound when I turn my AC on, but has only done it a few times. Doesn’t happen enough where I can get the dealer to replicate. If yours does it every time you should definitely take it in.

No he’s talking about a clank when he turns the AC on. I was thinking abs test too until I read the ac part.

I’ve only heard this clank a few times and I believe most of those times it was after my truck sat in the sun on a really hot day. And as soon as I turn the AC on... clank! I’m not sure if there’s some mechanical part that moves when the AC is turned on but the sound definitely sounds metallic.

Yeah mine does it every time I turn on the truck for the first time in the day and turn on the AC. Going to take it in when I get a chance.

I’ve heard that noise once in the 2 1/2 years I had my truck. I wouldn’t say it’s normal.
