I am lowered 2 inches in front and have 22 inch rims and i hit a bump and it ripped all the plastic from under my wheel well, i don't care about replacing it because it will happen again but i do care that my air intake and passenger side of my engine and belts are exposed to water is there something i can do to cover them. also something that wont fall out after hitting a bump

Smaller tires and/or maybe extend the bumpstop?

Superbumps or durobumps are a start.

If youve got a bigger budget for the project consider air bumps. Will cushion much better on hits. If you get the bump position fixed you can rebuild the liner and it will not get touched again

I wouldn't drive it in the rain with it exposed like that(air filter). It ripped out your wheel well liner because the tire/ wheel combo and lowering kit were not set up quite right. Just like a lift, when lowering a vehicle you still have to articulate the suspension to make sure everything clears. Best of luck to you. Got any pics of the entire truck?

Try prefilter material. Won’t completely stop everything but it’s better than nothing

Curious, what size is your overall tire diameter?

Think about doing an AIP relocate. He relocates the breather inlet tube up inside the engine bay.

Here is a comparison. You are basically at stock hight with the tires. Just a little wider. I’m surprised you are rubbing so bad with only a 2 inch drop. It must be your wheel offset helping that situation. By the way I really like the way your truck looks!

Did you do drop spindles or lowered coilovers?

If you are on stock shocks with drop spindles, that may be your issue. Start with replacing your smashed bump stops and adding a shim or two underneath it. When people do spacer lifts they typically forget to shim their bump stops which causes shock failure. You are at the other end of the spectrum and blowing through your shocks and bouncing off of the bump stops and your inner fender. Think about doing a proper lowered shock set up to keep you off your bump stops and ditching those spindles if that’s what you have. Then you could replace the inner fender plastic.

This may not be what you want to hear but I’m just trying to get you to fix the problem instead of cutting patching in fender wells.

Good idea with the super bumps but I’m almost positive they won’t fit without jacking the truck up. But then he will be always riding on the bump stops. I think the ride might be harsh even though those stops are somewhat plush. But he definitely needs to adjust the bump stop position.

@15whtrd you are probably correct. He might not have that much up travel left.

To extend bumps is a bolt on. You jack up truck onto stands, remove shock assembly. Then you can put the tire back on and cycle your suspension freely. You can raise that tire up with a jack until it gets close to the liner/body. You will see at that point how much your bump stop needs to be lowered by with a spacer.

I would seriously consider smaller tires though. You will be able to see this when you check your travel as well. You are running a stock sized tire basically. If you got one that is 1.5 inches shorter it might clear fine at full bump....

Soak the threads under the bump stop in PB blaster or something like it. Take some big channel locks and unscrew it. You will probably have to jack the truck up to make room to get it out. Add some spacers underneath each of them and bolt it back in. I am unsure of the equation to how much shim you would need.

For instance when we are lifting a truck, a quarter inch shim on top of the coil overs equates to about a half inch of lift at the wheel. So in relation the bump stop is a little closer to the wheel so just a guess, a quarter inch of shim under the bump stop might limit the wheel travel about 3/4 to 1 inch in the wheel up travel.

You can test this theory with some washers under a bump stop. Try a couple of washers and jack your truck up by the lower a arm. Hopefully it will compress enough to land on the bump stops and show you how far your wheel is traveling. Add or take away until you find the right combination. I would suggest shimming both bump stops on each side. Although the best Way to test this would be without the coil over in place.

This would probably be best. That way he could keep as much suspension travel as possible. Plus it would gear his truck up a little bit and make it that much faster LOL.

I’d be worried about the intake for sure. I’d probably just install a new intake system, something that doesn’t pull from the fender well. Would kind of suck to lose the stock “cold air intake” but much better then sucking in water on accident. Get something that pulls from under the hood. Maybe install a functional hood scoop :)
