I miss having the fish and chips and downing a Sculpin beer at the Tin Fish at the Imperial Beach pier during a King Tide.

Did you see any 2wd duallies pulling 40ft 5ths get stuck? Used to go to Oceano, then come back to camp and watch these dudes bury their axles.

Holy hell man, I can’t believe they let some of these people pass the gate with what they got! Saw 2 trucks stuck with trailers. They looked like they were gonna just let em sit, lopsided trailers and all, till it was time to leave. Haha!

Some people don't think. These people roll on to the beach with full water tanks. Once they get passed the heavily compacted entrance area things go south fast. That's when they realize their diesel dually pulling a 16000lb 6 wheeled monstrosity wasn't designed for beach sand.

You’re not kidding. We saw one of them with maybe a 30-35 ft trailer hooked around the east side of the camp where the buggies are traveling to get to the dunes. Down to his axles and the trailer bottomed out on a burm. Amazing.

Once they are like that it takes a train to pull them out. I once saw a guy panicking as the tide was coming in so I pulled on him with my LT Bronco, but the little 302, soft suspension and light weight couldn't move him. 2 3/4 ton cummins and a 1 ton 6.0 did the job. Stuck dude gave each one of them a fat ribeye and a 6pk. Well worth it to see $150k NOT get washed away by the Pacific.

Man, I miss CA. I would like to come back some day. The cost of living would need to come down though. Also, it's nice living in a free state.

Not a problem. Just let your rig sit in the wet sand and wait for the tide to come in ~ it's a city truck !

Yeah we didn’t stick around to see any of that.
There’s so much here in California. I’ll pay the “awesome weather tax” to stay.

Same here. We used to go to Ruby's often. Was great sitting on top and having good food and a brewski. My dad took me perch fishing off that pier when I was a kid in the early 60's!

That sounds fun. I miss when not everyone knew about Corona Del Mar too, it was a pretty secluded place until social media. Whenever I mentioned it people would argue "that isn't Orange County that's San Deigo" :p

A lot of fond memories, and lack of memories around all those places. Balboa Island too, there used to be a taco spot where if the lady asks what you want and you aren't sure she would kick you out of line, soup nazi style. Great nachos there.
