Just found out our puppy was born last night! So we’ll be adding to the family in about 8 weeks.

Haven’t had a dog in a while, having lived in apartments until we bought a house last year...

Just wondering what everyone out there is feeding their dogs these days? I’m not a huge fan of normal dry food in a bag. I love food, and I would like my dog to enjoy its food.

Here’s the mom Piper with her 12 pups!

Dog breed is a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon - because I know I had no idea what they were the first time I saw them!

    Ask your Breeder and Veterinarian.

Dry food is typically better for them and in the correct quantity. Many breeders and vets recommend a grain free dry food. I believe we get a Merrick brand at Petco.

A Taste of The Wild puppy food...only thing her belly could take. Also needed something that could be bought just about anyplace in case we would run out while on the road!

Just started Happy Howie high value frozen dog treats!

Of course she seems to want to gnaw on me alot

What does your dog eat? I'm assuming that squirrel in the tree if they can ever catch it.

Until then I feed them Purina One dry dog food. I change up the flavors each time I get a bag so they have a bit of variety.

Royal Canin. It's expensive, but it's breed specific so the peace of mind knowing my boys are getting everything they need is worth it. My youngest dane is 160lbs, so wet food and the raw meat diet is a no-go. I'd have to sell my truck just to feed him.

A taste of the wild. I switch between the salmon, Wild boar and one or two others. That’s just to keep them interested. I started using this because my dogs were having some type of rash on their bellies. Come to find out it must’ve been the grains in the other dog food I was using. Some dogs don’t do well with a grain diet.

Also poop. My pit just loves to eat the rat dogs poops. Ever since she was a puppy I couldn’t keep her out of it. No matter what diet I change to, she likes to sneak off and eat the Tootsie Roll’s. She is slick about it too. Sniffing sniffing sniffing boom head back, ate it! Nasty ass.

Hahahaha. I was wary about it at first. I used to blend them slowly into the new flavor as if it was almost a new dog food. But now they seem to be OK with me running out of one flavor and jumping right into the next. The salmon does give them fish farts though LOL!

Congrats on the pup! Gonna be a bird dog?

I feed my dogs Dog Lovers Gold. There are many options and opinions for dog food. Ultimately it comes down to what works best for your dog. You want the dog to stay in shape and find the balance between amount of food and amount of poop in your yard. Dogfoodadvisor.com is a good place to compare but be warned it’s full of personal opinions so take what you read with a grain of salt

I always check on Dog Food Advisor. We have used many different brands in the past. I used Taste of the Wild for many years until we got into a bad batch. Lots of vomiting and bloody stool until I figured it out and changed foods. Lately I have been using Fromm Family Classics. Most people don't realize that many foods are mixed / prepared in the same factories, so you can get into a bad batch pretty easily even with a good brand. One of our dogs has a iron gut and can eat anything, the other one gets an upset stomach very easily. I'm always ready to change food at a moments notice.

I get them the 4Health brand from Tractor Supply. It's affordable but actually get's pretty good reviews for quality. We tried the grain free stuff but our dogs couldn't handle it.

Were still feeding him same brand as the breeder was, Diamond. I just mix in a spoonful of wet dog food as he likes it a lot more.

    Every day??

    I applaud your effort/care!!

Does that get your pup all the nutrients it needs? I really don't know what a dog needs besides a good amount of protein.
