    To much to list:)
Look at Primary Arms, Odin, Aero Precision. Everyone has their own likes and they all think their rifle is the best. So,,,, read a lot, figure out what you want one for, then read some more, and try to figure out which one would be best for you. The more you read the more knowledge you will have. You can go cheap and try to find what you are looking for and if you are a true first time owner that probably isn’t a bad idea. They are cheap in price and you can pick one up at a pawn shop or anywhere but don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work exactly perfect. You can get the basics down and go from there. There isn’t much to them but using cheap parts may cause some serious problems!! Remember it is a firearm and can cause serious damage. Just like anything you get what you pay for. Heck try to find a friend of a friend of a friend and go shoot at the range and shoot some different ones if you can. Ask questions and take everything you hear with a grain of salt and form an opinion from lots of opinions. Good luck:).

This is a great advice. I own 4 AR's. One I built from the ground up. Cost was just a hair under $4k. I started from cheap to decent to what I WANT. During my build, i did a lot of research on each piece from trigger to yes even take down pins..I guess I'm anal like that. Which is why I went with the tundra . I have a mechanical engineering background.

You can also build a good one from them for around $400.

PSA is right down the road from me. Though they do have some good prices on some thing's their AR's are cheap and not worth the money. IMO. I would save and buy a better one.

Thanks very much. Funny this thread came back up on my notifications today. We actually went to the range earlier today with some of my good family friends whose nephew just graduated boot camp For the Marines. Naturally I took my AR and a couple other toys and ran through about 250-300 rounds of 5.56 with no weapons malfunctions. I have never built one from the ground up for myself but surprisingly I've built them from others. The AR has really become the Honda Civic of rifles. There are so many different combinations/setups/parts that allow you to build/mod your AR exactly how you want it and there is always something new coming out for them. One day when I have more free time I will build one for myself from the ground up and probably be just as anal as you were, I have a systems engineering background so I'm all about everything working in harmony together.

Most important and prior to your purchase is that you are responsibly safe, sound minded, and law abiding, for any firearm ownership. If so then I suggest you take a look at FNUSA or Colt for reliable and battle proven hardware.

Good luck with your search and always think safety!

Nice. My only advice is patience and what is the purpose you are building it for. Right now its a great time to buy and build. Tons of info and parts out there. My build took almost 2 yrs. Most of that was due to Sandy Hook time and everything was gone due to all the talks of new laws on guns. Waited 8 months just to get the barrel I wanted.
