Irrigation question

Is that cut off valve conected to something else? Or is that a submerged system?

 

That valve looks like where they hook up to blowout the system for winter. I think. And should be off like it is. I could be wrong. Assume the blue valve is what you talking about.

 

Wish I could help. I was flipping them off and on until I got it to work. Never bothered with winterizing the system until last year. This year I’ll pay closer attention.

That is a blowout port or drain leave it closed turn main water on run system through controller to check zones program controller to your needs
Do you have back flow preventer?usually a brass bell looking thing on house where main water comes out

 

I would leave that as is. Make sure your water is off before the valve and then turn in the water to your sprinklers on from the basement? Make sure all the vents are closed and no leaks then turn on the water slowly before the valve. Check for leaks. Valve might leak for a second from pressure.

 

Don’t turn that one!! You’ll have water where you don’t want it!!. Look for the main going into all of those off your main and then follow directions above. But I’m thinking if nothing was touched then turn on the main to the sprinkler system and power (breaker) to the system and timers and all should work?? Good luck?

 

That stays off. I have on occasion cracked that open after blow out to allow any remaining water in the lines a way to escape before freezing. If you do that make sure to close it before starting your system again.

 

you are in luck! i own an irrigation company.

that definalety should be off other wise it will continuously leak from there . looks like a blow out connection to me.

the solenoids on the valves need to be hand tight . if they are not one valve or all valves may run and not shut down. also if the black bleeder screws should be hand tight

 

i do not know why they would put a blow out in that location. i put my blow out at the exit of the house and before the p.v.b. so i can blow everything out from the source.

also have no idea why they made a u shaped manifold other than being cheap and trying to fit more valve in a box than is supposed to be in there

It’s fine. Leave it like that. That is IMO not an ideal blow out spot. I run a quick connect just before my back flow preventer. You air up the system and turn each zone on until no more water. I’ll send a pic if it helps.

That pic is when I had it blown out. Buy a quick connect and you can leave it there permanently.

Just tested it. It’s not what it used to be.

 

For reference, this is how I leave mine all the time. I have a medium size compressor and I bought one of those cheaper pig tail yellow hoses that are mobile. Roll it over there and pressurize the system. Turn on each zone, done.

 

when i install systems i put a hose bib at the 90 you have going to test port 1. so it would be a slip by slip by 1/2" female thread and then a 1/2" boiler drain . i leave that drain open for the winter in case the shut of valve seeps. if it drips a day after . we know we need to replace shut off valve.
