Ive got my 6” Vated coilovers and can’t the the to fit on the truck. The adjustment screw and coil hit on the drop bracket of my procomp kit. Anyone else experience this? Is it possibly assembled wrong and need to be on a higher notch? I’m $500 in labour in and told they aren’t going to work. Yes it was.. its back together now with the old suspension.. my mechanic took the pics. My mechanic tried every way he could think of and couldn’t get it to fit. Fat Bobs Garage says it’s possible so I’m stuck.

Ya. I’ll have to take some measurements and see what’s up. Anyone know what the length of the Fat Bobs are supposed to be?

I ran these before going with Toytec 2.5 and I swear the FBGs felt better both on and offroad. Really regretted dropping $2000 on what turned out to be a downgrade.

Got them again on my 4runner before going with medium travel.

They are local to me and their customer service is outstanding. Their suspension products are absolutely in line with other brands that charge double for the same basic product. I would put them against some of the competitors coiloverw that cost 3 times as much any day.

They will go above and beyond for their customers too, which was not my experience with the other brand.

it could be the coil i believe they have 700# springs on them. i was looking at getting a set of these to run on my zone 5" lift but looking at them now up close they are the rcd designed bilstein for their 6" lift with springs and adjustable perch. have you tried clocking them down? looks like there is a little bit of thread left.

It’s fully unloaded.. I can spin the shock around. I’m going to stop by my mechanics Monday and hopefully get some clarity as I’m not a suspension expert.

So it’s not the legnth.. it’s how far down the coil comes. The 5100 has adjustable snap ring that holds the adjustable perch. Current spring is a 700lb 16”, my thought is to move the snap ring to the next setting up or the top one and replace the 16” coil with a 700lb 14” or a 13” 650lb. I would still get the height, the adjustability and clear the drop bracket so I can get this bolted up. Any thoughts?

Well, I called and they are gonna charge me a 20% restocking fee plus I’m out $150 for duty as I live in Canada on top of another $120 to ship it to them. At least my mechanic cut me a break for half price labour to take it apart and put it back together. I think he felt bad for me. I may have got lemons but I’m gonna make some lemonade one way or another. New coils are relatively inexpensive in the big picture if I can make them work. Icon has a set for $150 for a pair of 14” coils and I’ll just replace it myself

Did you send them pictures? I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't take care of the problem if it shipped that way. They recently gave me free RCI skid plates because of a problem at their shop (I am recovering from a broken ankle and took a 1/4" spacer to them to install to correct lean - they broke the ABS cable and I was there all day, missed my son's piano recital). So yeah, they gave me 2 free t-shirts and a $300 credit that I spent on an engine skid plate.. I can't imagine them not correcting this problem at no cost to you.

Call and talk to Mark, pretty sure he's there right now.

I did send them all the pics and they spoke to my mechanic too. Tried calling them and it went straight to voicemail.. i’ll try them again Monday and ask for Mark. I was dealing with Kyle and he just said that lots of people have installed these and that I should take it to another installer and get another opinion.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. So it won’t work even with a shorter coil spring and movIng up the perch. I appreciate the info.

The perches should not be used to add ride height at all in this instance.

Here is a clear picture of mine when I sold them
Sorry, quoted the wrong post. He was talking about using a shorter coil and either the middle or top perch to get some height out of it.

Called Fat Bob and asked for Mark. Wasn’t around so I left a msg with my number and never heard back. Pretty disappointing when others got such great customer service. Shelled out another $350 for 14” Eibach springs to make this work. I guess “Live and Learn”

You may have mentioned this in a prior post but what FBG setup did you have before going the 2.5?

Doesn't surprise me at all. These guys are clowns.

They're local to me, been going there for years (out of desperation) when needing a part quick.

I had the Vated voilocers with Bilstein 5100s. The same product that the OP had.

FBG is a great company and their coilovers are a fantastic product. I do not believe that this product arrived damaged and FBG refused to make it right.

Well, I was changing my oil this weekend and noticed my driver side shock leaking. I paid somewhere around 450 for the pair of coilovers, installed at around 30k miles and I have a little over 135k miles on my truck now. I think what finally did the shocks in is all the towing I do. I pull my camper every week. The wdh spreads the load so I guess these shocks took all they could. Anyway, looks like it's time to go with good suspension setup. My truck is finally paid off and I think she deserves it!

Final confirmation that the coilovers won’t work with my set up after many hours of research and $. I wasted enough that I could be on a set of Icons but instead Fat Bob Garage has my money. Worst decision ever

So Im running these on my 08 tundra. Im wanting to improve ride quality DRASTICALLY. A guy at a lift place is wanting to replace my entire lift with RC extended front strut lift. Im willing to do whatever as long as it gives me a better ride. Do yall think these ride better or worse than that kit? Anyone know? Cant find a comparison anywhere.
