So ever since I picked up my TSS last June, the rear two tires have been slowly (like 1 psi a day) losing air. The tires are pretty much brand new from when I bought the truck.

Front tires are older and do not lose air.

Took it to Discount Tire and they took me out to the bay and told me that chrome flaking/pitting is causing the issue and the only way to fix is either new wheels, or they send them off to have the corrosion ground down and primered.

Has anyone had this issue with their Chrome wheels? I had a 2011 Taurus limited with 20" wheels and never had issues.

My chrome is only flaking in the lug nut areas. I really like the 07' TSS wheels, one of the reasons I fell in love with this particular truck.

I have never heard of this but seems plausible. Did they break the bead and show you the flaking or pitting in the sealing area? If such corrosion exists, would think a wire wheel clean-up and primer/sealer would remedy the issue. Maybe a DIY to save time and money.
If such a problem exists, there is probably a youtube video solution or something on the interwebs somewhere.....

    Good Luck!

Yes, the showed me on the floor. It looked like a blob of brown right where the tire contacts the wheel.

I know they have grinders there to clean up the rim before mounting, not sure why they couldn't have done it on the spot.

Guess I will have them remove the tires from both rears, take the wheels home, wirewheel/primer and then have them remount with bead sealer?

I don’t have any leaking issues with my tss wheels. But 2 out of 4 are flaking badly. They honestly look like crap.

Yeah, the main face of my wheel is fine for now. It's where the lug nuts go in that just huge flakes are flying out. Problem is I chromed out my door handles and mirror caps, plus I have the chrome bumpers and Grill, not like I can go and change out to black wheels - would look off.

Sounds like a serious manufacturing problem if everyone’s chrome wheels are flaking. How old is everyone’s rims? Maybe you could take it up with the company that manufactured them or Toyota?

lol if Toyota wouldn't honor the AIP warranty recall when I was one month out of the window, I highly doubt they would work with me on wheels.

They make good vehicles, but they suck when it comes to help after-the-fact.

Mine is from 2014. No way they’d help lol

But in their defense, The tss wheels aren’t from Toyota. I’m pretty sure they’re from a 3rd party and swapped out some point between the manufacturer and dealer.

Firestone wouldn't even mount tires on my TSS wheels the other day. they were afraid their machine would gouge the chrome. Its actually called black chrome and it is very finicky
