I am going to 285/75R18 tires on 18 inch wheels. Truck will have Bilstein 6112 on top setting up front and coachbuilder +3 shackles in the rear to level it out.

I don’t need or want a hi lift jack for every day driving. So I am wondering what is out there that can replace the stock toyota jack and that can be carried daily? I have a decked system in the back and a Leitner designs cargo system and under seat storage cut out under crewmax back seat also. Maybe the stock Jack is still good enough for my lift and new tires. I can always test it out in the driveway.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't think the stock jack is gonna cut it. You could look for bottle jacks with an extended reach. They're small enough to stow and can get the truck in the air much quicker than the stock one.

I have a one foot section of railroad tie in the bed of my truck. The OEM jack goes on top of it to compensate for lift.

One of the "silverbacks" will have to elaborate, but my understanding is that a Hi-Lift and stock jack are used for different purposes. While you can use a hi-lift to change a tire, it's not ideal since it lifts the body of the vehicle and has to "outreach" the suspension's travel before getting the tire off the ground. Bottle jacks can be placed under the frame in a way that's more efficient than lifting from the slider or bumper (i.e., hi-lift). From what I've seen, Pro-Eagle can do both for a mere $500. :eek2:

I carry an 8 ton bottle jack. Small, compact, cheap, and works like a charm. Carry some kind of base-plate too in case you're in the dirt/sand/etc in the shoulder or off-road.

This company seems to have some good kits already put together as well as some bases for off-road use. I’m going to give them a call tomorrow. Maybe even ask about a group buy.

HiLift is not intended for changing tires. It is for odd stuff, like breaking a frozen wheel off the studs/wheel mount when nothing else works a mile from camp (main reason 1) or lifting the vehicle off a rock to the side, or pulling t posts out of the ground or winching the vehicle if nothing else works. I am not a serious off reader but my twin brother of a different mother can tell you that my HiLift got his truck home when nothing else could.

Two or three small blocks of 2x6 cut just bigger than the base of the jack works well. Stack them as needed. Fits in the compartment, too. Win win.

Keep us posted on the possible group buy @Zero One Actual. I'd be interested if that took off.

I’ve recently purchased 2 of the SafeJack kits and am impressed with them. I’ve always had HiLift jacks, but my new Tundra like most new trucks lacks suitable jacking points. A bottle jack, any suitable bottle jack, with the SafeJack extensions seems to be a great way to go. A base, or bases, would be a must-have accessory. A handle extension is also on my list to keep from lying under the truck while using the jack.

Carried one of these forever when I was young ... zip, zip, zip and up it goes!

Had a smaller floor jack I carried for a while too ... dropped it on my big toe when I was wearing sandals once: said "son of a buck" about 8 times [that was when I was a better person and didn't cuss as much]; after about 2 minutes, when the pain wasn't receding AT ALL, I started praying.

I was carrying it by the 'twist-on' handle like a total dumbass.

Just looked that up. Looks interesting. Do you have a lift on your truck? Or any suspension work done?

No lift, stock tires but. Works fine for me, Google says it has a max height of 17" but the adapter should add an inch or two. I'll measure it when I get a minute.

Awesome thank you. Looks like it my be another good option. I don't really want to get a Hi Lift jack. I have heard horror stories plus they are pretty big and bulky, I'm trying to by as minimal and compact as possible.

So far Safe Jack with a 4x4 or 4x6 is my first option.

Thanks for the info. Do you have an adapter for the sliders?

No. I do not. It comes with two adapters that you can swap out depending on the situation. One is flat. One is a collar. See attached photo.

Just curious, what kit did you end up with?

I’m on a similar suspension set up, just with 35’s. TIA!
