Also, I would check this one out. This is the one I am thinking about installing. It also has the ability to switch to the side views when the turn signals are activated. The difference is that this is almost half the cost and also comes with a controller to manually switch between camera feeds.

whoa, good find. When I do this down the road, I'd rig the wires and make sure everything functions as expected before routing all the wires and drilling into the side mirrors. I've been looking at the Trail Ridge mirrors with the smoked turn signals. I'd switch out my mirrors the same time as making this mod since it all has to be pulled anyhow. mods mods mods... I swore I wouldn't mod as much with my Tundra as I did with my Taco and yet here I am lurking in the same dark corners for another hit.

What connector did you use for the factory USB?

Do you think this is a better position than where the OEM one is? I have to add dynamat to the roof of my truck so I thought I would just run the mic up to the factory spot at the same time. That is unless it’s not a good place for the mic to be in the first place. I appreciate your feedback on all these questions!

I am researching on how I can modify the wiring to use the OEM mic. If that doesn't pan out, I will run the mic to the OEM position.

The one thing I noticed about this one was this in their description

    “1.Automatical round view when starting:
When car engine starts, the system will activate the car monitor and the all the camera around one by one to check the view around for 10 seconds, then turn off. ”

Still have to research more, but I don’t think I would want this every time the truck starts.

Also the way this description of how to activate the turn signal camera, leads me to believe you have to first manually push the controller to side view then every time after that it would work on the turn signal engagement.

    “4. Side view mode:
Press the control switch less than 1 second to enter Side View Mode.
When you turn on the turning switch, this system will activate Monitor and Side view camera (Left/Right side view camera is controlled by Left/Right steering lamp). The monitor and camera will turn off after 1.5 seconds when steer turning is finished.
Press the control switch less than 1 second again to enter Front View Mode.
    Trigger priority:
    Right View>Left View>Back View>Front View“

The camera feeds will probably only appear after opening the FCam app manually. I plan on using the FCam input. Probably also wont use the switching function as I will be adding interior cameras to keep an eye on my kids. So my main interest is the controller to flip between views.

    Yeah, but this radio isn't.

I've messaged Dasaita through Amazon stating I will be returning this unless they provide another unit or a partial refund.

We will see where they go. It's ridiculous I have to splice my 12V into the ACC wire just so my truck doesn't die.

I literally just ordered the radio from them lol. Has anyone else had any issues with this that you know of? My truck is a daily driver but there are times I travel for a week at a time for business so I’m slightly worried that my truck won’t start when I get back from those trips

@effektz I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have a 2nd Gen and apparently they couldn't get the power delivery for my year correct. Supposedly they are going to send me a different harness, but no one else has reported parasitic power draw other than myself. And since you have a 3rd gen like everyone else, I don't think you will have an issue.

For me, the FCAM wire was getting a full 12V even at off and the truck is "asleep" - which makes me wonder what else was being powered...factory amp?

Others who have this radio and are 3rd Gen report 4V at FCAM wire, so it seems the voltage is being limited correctly.

But now that I have spliced the constant 12V into the ACC wire, my battery voltage has stopped declining. The unit doesn't do it's soft shutdown now, but I've done it about 6 times and it doesn't seem to have a negative impact. All settings/apps are obviously stored on the RAM and so it boots up in about 15 seconds.

Just annoyed to have this issue and have to fix it myself after spending $500 - but again, light years better than the stock 6-disc radio.

Sooooo... they didn't include a factory USB adapter, that's why I couldn't figure it out.
Iris stated they could sent me one for $25 to pay shipping and that I didn't tell her it had a factory USB. I told her most all if not all of cars today have a USB port and that she didn't if I had one, how am I supposed to tell her every detail if I don't know specifically they need. I sent her the photo of the back of the OEM HU that was posted for reference and answered all of her questions before they shipped for the correct Canbus.
not happy with that specifically, no instructions why thank God this forum exists but having the Dongle work is key for me to keep this HU. Using a hot spot each time for my 8 minute work commute and constantly turning it off and on just to listen to Pandora is not going to work long term.

    Are talking about this?

    6) Factory USB adapter
    [IMG]
$10 AXXESS AX-TOYUSB - USB-Auxilliary Retention Harness - USB adaptor to retain the OE USB in select Toyota vehicles

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QF01H2E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They don't include this. Don't pay $25, just get the one the OP listed.

Also, I resurrected my music collection and put it on a USB thumb drive. Then plugged it into one of the two USB connections in my glove box. This and the Pulsar music app is how I listen to music on my 8 minute commute to work.

How does that USB adapter attach to factory? I can't see a male end that plugs into the adapter. There's an unattached male end that comes off the factory USB/3.5 harness but it's too big, doesn't fit. Maybe I have the wrong adapter, looks just like it though with the two teeth inside the square port.

If its the AXXESS adapter for Toyota, then it should fit. Unless you were sent the wrong one.

Ok thanks, upon closer inspection I have the wrong one, it's for 2nd gen Tundra as the female port is square, not rectangular. I can tell by going to your Amazon link.

Ordered. Thought it came with the Amazon bundle since it was in the parts list from the beginning. Oh well, I'll grab the adapter you sent and it installed. Thanks.

    Dumb question.

When I was having CarPlay issues, I uninstalled the app and then re-installed it, but
I now no longer have the app icon on my dashboard

How do you add a shortcut back? Doesn't seem to be an option. For now I have it autolaunch and if I exit to Android OS, I can just hit the "open apps" button on the upper right and go back..but man its annoying.

I just checked on mine and the default launcher (Launcher3) doesn't have an app drawer. All the new apps that I have installed gets appended to the first available space on the preceding pages. Obviously you checked the other pages for AutoPlay? If it is still not there, I would install a different launcher (ie. Nova Launcher) so that you will be able to see the app drawer. From there, you can add shortcuts.

    Yeah, I checked all pages.

I really like my launcher. I guess I will leave it as is.

Maybe I can program one of the touch buttons to bring up app list.

@916tundra or @VTYOTA my radio arrives Friday and I plan to install this weekend. I am also planning to sound mat the roof so I’m dropping the headliner and might as well run the mic to the oem position. Do you think there is enough wire included with the mic to get up there or do I need to get an extended cable?

I'd guess it would be close, but I would go ahead and get the extension. You can always return it. Better to have it on hand than not since you are taking down the headliner.

I don’t think the wire is long enough so get a 3ft extension just in case
