My bike rack is too heavy for my trailer bumper and it keeps drooping.

Is there a bike rack that can go over the bed and clear a folding bed cover? Been looking for hours with no luck.

I have a Bakflip bed cover that I still want to function as well.

    Thanks!

    They fold pretty high.

What about roof racks and a roof mounted setup?

Yes, bed would be better though because I could stand in it while loading as opposed to needing a ladder for room. Plus less chance of dropping it on the paint.

So back a while ago KB Voodoo was the only company who made a rack that you are looking for. It used the bed rails of a Tacoma and would go under the cover and have the bike outboard. They have since stopped making them in favor of ones that use their bed rack system and negate a tonneau cover. You could try to get a local Fab shop to make you something like this. I spoke with KB and they do not plan on offering them again..

What kind of trailer are we talking about? Is there room to have some angle iron welded to to tongue to make some spots to hold the bikes

It's a 25ft Jayco Jayfeather camper trailer. Tounge area is too short to put stuff on.

I saw Bakflip has a nice rack system with a tonneu but it's $1500

That looks pretty cool. You can still lock the tonneau cover while you are out riding. It also looks like you could put a few bikes on since they look like they slide along that rail.

Can the bikes go inside the trailer? Make some wheel chocks that can come out and go in truck bed when at campsite?

Can you add a front hitch and put the rack out front? I have a front hitch and seldom use it, but when I run out of room it works great.

I like the sliding rails and bike stand but that is going to run about 2 grand for all the crap to haul 3 bikes. Going to try the simple mounts for now. Once I get tired of yanking wheels I will do something more elaborate.

Ok, so i did a makeshift rack cause I needed something now. I may re-make it out of metal and perhaps higher but I needed something for the next 3 weekends so this is the temporary functional prototype. The spacers are just hockey pucks I drilled out with a hole saw and I used J-hooks to lock them in. The bike mounts were 40 bucks on Amazon. Thule lowrider model 821.

Big thanks to everyone who sent PM’s and links for me to look at. It really helped a lot. I really like the track rack Winning8 posted but to do that setup with bike carriers was going to run almost $2000. This cost me about $150. I did the rear a little higher so I can just barely peep the cover up enough to close the tailgate.

Add 2 more 2x4 on side so you could strap it down

Here is my setup. Its a bracket made by summit racks that allows you to mount a yakima or thule rain gutter tower to. the whole thing removes in a couple minutes if you need to fold the cover up and use the bed.

    That is slick!

Well since my wife decided to get a 3 person Kayak the 2x4 rack is out and I ordered the Trackrac that Winning8 posted.

KB Voodoo has a new system out where it goes over your bed cover as a rack system, but you can remove the cross rails to fold your cover.

The final version ended up being a Yakima quick detach Rack system that I mounted to the bed rails. The 2x4 system was great but setup and tear down took too long. The Thule rack system was fantastic but it put the tallest bike 12 feet in the air. Too tall for a lot of trees out here hanging over the road when going camping.I will upload some pics when I find them. Doing the final version was a lot of work but I can have all 3 bikes AND the rack system on or off the car in literally 2-3 minutes. The entire rack system comes off with the rails as one large assembly. Just have to flip 4 latch covers.

I built one similar to that ~10 years back. a piece of trex synthetic decking, a fork mount, and some 2xstock to go in the stake pockets. I strapped down the rear tire to the decking with some hardware I found in the shelving isle of the local hardware store.

I was pretty easy and cheap. unfortunately I never took pics, and no longer have that truck.
