Well what a way to start!!! New Tundra owner and wanted to get the opinion of others. Literally had my Tundra 6 days and garage door came down on it yesterday.

Hadn’t been using the garage opener because the Tundra is too big for my garage to close. So the opener is laying on the middle console and my son hits the button while I’m on the phone. I see the door coming down in he rear view mirror but it’s too late.

Obviously looking for the best body shop in my area. Don’t really care about the costs. Mainly curious to see from other what luck will I have restoring this truck to looking new again.
    Just a nightmare scenario.

ALWAYS put something in front of the sensor if you're working in the garage door area even if the opener is not in a place where it can easily be touched.

    Total bummer man.

A good rated body shop will make that look great again. I’m sure there are plenty in NC.

I added the tailgate and back panel scratches. Once the door rested on the bed instead of simply using the door opener to relift the door I in a rage pushed the door up and then the door came off the rack.

The sensor comment is a great idea. My sensors are lower to the ground and obviously didn’t pick up the tailgate.
However in this situation I was about to back out once I got off the phone.

Any body shop experts know how extensive the work will be?

Passenger side cab is the worst. Actual dents. Tailgate and back panels scratches.

Think cost may justify an insurance claim.

Most dealerships have great body shops

Yeah. Going through insurance for sure. I know it won’t be cheap. It’s a brand new care. Honestly I don’t care what it costs. I want it fixed. Just was curious what all would need to be done.

With Memorial Day, I won’t see a shop until Tuesday. So I’m just trying to get some ideas because im sick and won’t feel better until it looks new again.

Looks like paint only, no metal damage? Either way a good body shop and you will never know that it happened. Only in your nightmares! Sorry for this David.......that sucks.

    Welcome from NY.

Sorry to hear about the damage. I would go through your home owners insurance.
Where are you from? (Edit your profile) Maybe somebody in your area can reccomend a good shop.

The passenger side of the cab is a little dented. 2nd pic. Rest is paint.

Man, sorry to see that. I’m sure you’ll get it back to new. On a side note, how much down pressure does that door have? That has to be some serious force to cause that. You might want to adjust if possible.
My wife has closed the door on her Highlander tail gate three times and all three left very minimal damage.

The back of cab will take some body work; pop out ftom inside, possibly drill tool and pull, then bondo or filler to smooth out. Shouldn't be able to tell when finished. Possibly similar on rear corner above taillight.
As mentioned, check into you home owners insurance as well.

Thats too bad bro. Bummer. Did you have the truck Backed in, only partly in the garage because the front wont fit? Or was it just too long for your garage and the back sticks out?

Live with it until someone hits you(it will happen). Then their insurance can pay.

You aren’t the first to have that happen so don’t let it get to you. It will look fine after it’s repaired. I had a new Mazda pickup half way in the garage. Went to turn the light on but hit the door opener instead. The door came down on the top of the box rails and did no damage. Unfortunately for me this was an old opener with no safety features. The door kept trying to come down and shattered beyond repair. That screw up cost me a new garage door which wasn’t cheap.

When I first bought my Tacoma years ago I had it a week and a kid backed into it.

I thought it was totaled but the place made it look perfect.

    Trust me, that is nothing.
