During my journey on looking for my first Tundra, I've been reading out fee's you shouldn't pay or you should negotiate. I was provided an invoice and was curious if anybody had any insight on these fees below.

    1. Handling Fee - $1495. Probably need to find what is included in this
    2. Total F.I.E - $1077. Not sure what this is
    3. TDA - $720. From what I've read online, you shouldn't be paying advertising fees, because the dealers are already getting paid

I think it depends on your location and dealer charges independently.

Seems like a lot of "fees". I would definitely check other dealers.

That's what I was thinking. I have a few trucks more trucks to look at, so I'll be getting some more invoices to compare.

Is that the pain I feel when leaving a dealership? I know they are sneaky and tricky.........

^This! I left Findlay Toyota in HENDERSON, NV last week because they added a $1,200 TDA fee to the Tundra I was interested in. This will be my 5th new Toyota in the past 15 years and I haven't paid any fees except the doc fee. Good luck!

All fees are crap! Just negotiate an out the door price and don’t worry about fees. It’s a distraction technique used in sales. Remember only care about and focus on out the door price.

Dont let them give the square bullshit routine either

Ask for the price of the truck as though you have a big bag of money.

No trade in, no down payment. I want the price of the truck.

If they give you sticker price tell them you can walk around to other places and look at stickers.

Just for reference, here is the quote they gave me. For this truck I was just seeing what they would give, to give me an idea. The left is MSRP and the right is Dealer Invoice. This truck has no upgrade packages at all.

Toyota Advertising fee. It's a BS fee, because they're already getting paid for this.

How would I get the dealer cost? Here is part of the invoice. Would the Dealer Invoice be the same as the Dealer cost? The picture below is before any additional items are added.

Would F.I.E. Stand for “Factory Installed Extra’s” ?? Those are negotiable as well and if the numbers are different in both columns, that would lead me to believe that it is the extras (door sill kick plates, mats, etc.) and they discounted them to show you/make you think you are getting a deal.

I'm doing everything via email and then like you said, just show up and sign. I got burned on my last truck, because I just went in and didn't do any research. Thank god it turned out to be a lemon, so it saved my bad deal. I need to redeem myself on the Tundra.

What about the prices TrueCar gives you? Are those prices inflated as well?

I came across a truck on Truecar. It's a 2019 crewmax SR5, 4x4. It has the following added. TE MOTORSPORTS BUILD: THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT/ REAR 3/1 LEVELING KIT, KMC XD842 SNARE WHEELS, BFG KO2 ALL-TERRAIN TIRES, TRD CAT-BACK EXHAUST. The dealers website MSRP is $55,679 and on TrueCar the MSRP is $48,147 and the trueprice is $44,5229.

Glad I could help! In the end, it’s not the deal you got, it’s the deal you ‘think’ you got. Good luck and hope it works out!!

Other than TTL, which are not fees, the only fee I pay is a reasonable doc fee. Doc fees in Tx are capped. My dealer tried to throw in a $600 fee. I just said that I negotiated a price with the sales person and other than TTL that is what I am paying. Take it off or I walk. The only explanation they gave me for it was "we charge that to everybody". Well my name is not everybody. Also I refuse to buy a Toyota with the stupid paint and fabric protection plan. I had one sales dude tell me that people like it. I said yeah some people are stupid.

Hard to tell if it is good or not. Tax varies by state. What is price without TTL? I would say you need a $7k discount before TTL to be a good deal.

That's what I was thinking. My initial thought was if I get it OTD at $42k, I think that would be a fair deal. The MSRP is $44,351. I knocked 7k off that and went from there. I have one dealer down to 43k, will offer 42k.

I'm thinking this is good deal. MSRP is 45.5k and I'm getting it 43k OTD with below specs and a lifetime powertrain warranty. Thought?
