Speaker upgrading

Hey all I’m very new to the forum. Purchased a 2016 tundra SR5 w/ dash speaker. I love my music going to work and due to hearing loss from the Air Force I love it loud.

Looking to upgrade sound. Speakers, possibly an 8” sub and amp. I’m very tool oriented being a plumber so possibly doing the upgrade myself. Overall goal, add seriously loud speakers and keep the stock head unit.

I have Taco Tunes amp (PNP sold me), Fosgate 10" sub behind rear seat, and Infinity Kappa 6.5" x overs in front with tweeters in sail panels. Sounds great and can be loud. Only problem wit Taco Tunes is I never could get the tuning CD configured to play on head unit. Not a big deal. I just tuned the old fashioned way. I have not replaced the rear speakers yet. No biiggie because I rarely have back seat passengers. I would go to Crutchfield for speakers. They will include proper adapters and wiring. When I bought they did not have wiring harness for Tundra amps. You can go with a different amp and a LOC if you wish or if you want to sink more $s go with an equalizer. My thought was why add another piece.

 

OEM Audio+ makes a great product in my opinion. It can utilize the factory head unit as well. It will not blow your doors off regarding bass, but the all around sound profile that they aim for is fantastic!

 

Awesome! I always wondered what the amp wiring adapter to the head unit was. Money isn’t an issue but I’d like to get overall quality versus hoopla. Was thinking of JBL speakers.

Check out tech12volts.com. email James and he can hook you up. Definitely do at least a 10" sub, an 8" isn't worth it. Ideally you'll swap head unit too but you don't have to. A
