My advice would be to wash and dry and Isopropyl alcohol. You can always peel plastidip off it you don't like it, plus I don't thing you will gain anything scuffing it up.

Definitely don't sand. If you do, you're committing to plastidip for the life of the car. Or until you fix it permanently.

Truck is at BestBuy having the Viper remote start installed. Just in time for winter.

Funny how I had no plans whatsoever to install a remote start until I saw a thread on the Vipers the other day.

The forum mod bug strikes again $$$.

Valid. I took the day off from work, so while I drove into the mountains, I figured i'd ride while waiting.

Zzz. Popped in to find out what was taking so long and the geek squad guy said he couldnt get the remote start to work and doesnt have another one in store to diagnose the problem...just my luck.

Now instead of 1 day without my truck (which I use for work and cant do anything without it) its gonna be 2 if I'm lucky. Fuck me

Yeah the wait is already killing me. Specially since it was supposed to be wrapped up yesterday and now its gonna be next Monday at the earliest. Idk if its just where I live but it seems like its impossible to have something done right the first time nowadays.

White is the only color that I don't mind the chrome accents with. A colleague of mine has the white and has done chrome all around. He and I are generations apart but both love parking side by side and showing off the rigs at work.

I need to snap a photo and get that up on here.

Lol I just noticed his post after i posted mine. I almost had that same issue too but i called around the few Bestbuys we had hear and talked to the installers first. And the guy that did mine has been working for BestBuy doing installs for 12 yrs, plus he's a toyota guy drives a lifted Tacoma and is thinking of getting a Tundra. so i felt confident in having him do it.

Lucky, only one bestbuy within 100 miles of me so I was limited on options. I did talk with the install guy first to make sure it wasnt his first rodeo and he seemed very knowledgable and said that he has installed many of these systems on a variety of vehicles. Hopefully it was just the Viper unit, but being as it was brand new I'm inclined to think he may have overlooked something small. On the bright side it shouldnt take long next time since he has practice ripping my dash apart.

Got a new Texas flag sticker to replace the factory one on my truck, which also matches my screen on and off. Figured while I was at it, add an American flag for the other side to balance it, ha.

Got my "switchblade" all in one key cut and programmed at local locksmith. They first cut the key, then used their software to set up the key immobilizer, then set up the remote. He made sure he was "adding" a key throughout the process; he said this has better results than the other options. He charged me $50 to program; $4.95 to cut the key. He also told me for future reference that he can order a switchblade or all in one key and get it in 2 days. Also told me not to put much on the key ring end because these are made with a pin in the key hinge part that beaks often.
