The mice seem to love my wife's 2015 Sequoia during the winter. We have a full time electronic mouse trap under the seat and I have blocked the A/C intake to try and prevent the little buggers from getting in and staying around. It has been about 7-8 weeks since there has been any mouse evidence. About 6 weeks ago, we thought we had a mouse die inside because it started to smell really bad. Since then, my wife and I have spent countless hours trying to find the cause of the smell. The car has been wiped down / disinfected several times, we have shampooed the seats and the carpet and left all the windows down during the nice weather. After a week of "drying out" it started to rain again, so we had to resort to leaving the windows back up. Now the smell is back. I have removed trim pieces all around the car to look behind them for mouse evidence. So far I haven't found anything. Nothing under the seats, nothing in the various storage and cubbies. I have changed the cabin air filter several times. Today, I pulled the blower out and snaked an inspection camera up to the evaporator coil - still nothing. The carpet and seats are dry everywhere - no evidence of mold / fungus or mice. There must be something we are overlooking - any ideas?

Moth balls or peppermint oil will keep them away from your truck. As for the smell I have nothing, sorry.

I feel your pain man, here in Colorado, mice and pack rats love getting into our rigs.
They love to tear all the fiber material off the hood and batt. insulation.
I wonder I’d you have one in the hvac ducting?
Is it worse when the air or heat are on?
One could be way up under the dash, it will dry up over time, if that makes it any better.

I just chased a black racer snake up into the undercarriage of my truck trying to get it out of my garage! Don’t think I have to worry about mice tonight!!

I know it’s of no help, but it seemed fitting. I’m sure others will chime in with more helpful replies...ha

Now I just have to make sure my wife doesn’t burn the truck up to make sure the snake doesn’t go back into the garage!

I'm not familiar with the interior layout of the Sequoia, but have you checked out the rear cargo area? There is a pressure vent (62940-AA012) shown in the rear qtr panel parts diagram. It could have entered through that vent.

Its really hard to tell where it is coming from. My wife has an excellent nose and she can't locate the source. Thought we had it several times - hence the pulling of various trim pieces all around the vehicle. I'm stumped, never had an issue like this that I cant find.

We have peppermint oil on cotton balls nearly everywhere around the car. Haven't had any new mouse evidence in many weeks.

I did a good inspection of the HVAC ducting - it doesnt appear to be coming from there. Not any worse when the blower or AC is on.
