I know a lifted truck with taller tires will lower mpg's... what I'm wondering is how much. Does anyone have an idea on how much?

Dependson the size tires and how big the footprint is. If you lose 1 mpg to me thats no big deal if you get the look that you want...

Just read some of the threads on here. Most guys with lifted trucks and bigger tires are getting way more then 1 mpg less then stock. More like 4-5 mpg less. It adds up to about a $10,000 loss over 100,000 miles. It's the bigger tires, not so much the lift that reduces mpg. My truck is lifted 2.5" but I'm running stock size tires. I'm averaging 16.4.

The lift will theoretically lower the mpg but probably not enough to notice. More importantly than tire size is the type of tire that people switch to after lifting a truck. Going from an all terrain 4 ply tire to 10 ply tire with aggressive tread makes the truck have to constantly fight friction in order to maintain speed which kills the mpg.

Thanks for all the replies... since I don't do very much long distances driving, I can deal with those numbers.

I'm running 275/70 BFG ko2s with bilstein 5100s on the top setting. Driving around town/highway I'm doing 15-15.6mpg

7" lift, 35x12.5r20 Toyo A/T pumped to 45psi. During hunting season I'm up in the mountains and country roads, the current is 11.6 calibrated. Hwy is mid 13s ranging from 65-75mph and just driving normal, 12s in town (not city). Stock I was averaging 15mpg in the same areas of hwy driving and I could squeeze out 19.5-20mpg trying to achieve the best mileage possible.

That's definitely better than my 05 Ford Super duty V10 I used to own!!! It had a 6" lift w/35's under it. On it's best day I think it got 9 mpg.. if I can get the numbers y'all are telling me with my Tundra I'll be a happy man!!!! Thanks for all the replies!!
