WTF, how can a company cut your pay? Nothing about the cost of living anywhere has gone down.

Took mine in today for the 'radar sensor recall'. I had at first, booked the service online, but then read on the website that I would need to call in an appointment if it's for a recall so called and got that sorted. They advised that the 'part' was vin specific and they order it and it takes two days to get it. NP I take it in today at 8am and had a pleasant experience They also did the first 'service' which is not an oil change, but just checking stuff like fluids and brakes. Fine. They advised it would be done by 'lunch time' and got me home via Lyft. They call me at 10:30, it's done, and there was Lyft at my house in about 10 minutes. Takes all of 5 minutes for paperwork and I'm out the door and back on the road. I've been going to that dealer for almost two decades and I haven't had issues as long as I keep my eyes open.

Case in point, regarding eyes open. While I haven't had engine/tranny repair work done, my brother, with his 2006 Tundra had a leak where the transmission mates to the engine a couple of months ago. He went to an independent service station that has always been good for stuff like tires and wheel alignment but I told him to check the dealer, after he got an $1,100 estimate. Seemed to me he could spend about the same and get it fixed at the dealer so he went there. They quoted $2,000 so my brother let them know what the independent had quoted, and they immediately dropped the price to $1200 and since my bro was more comfortable at the dealer, he had them fix it. So if you aren't watching, you can get goosed a bit.

They find there reasons to say it's not pay cut but now you have to sell this much more or you have to get this goals before you can make what you used to

I avoid my local dealership. 7+ hours for them just to do an ok change, that was with an appointment. I only took it there because it was still under 2 years free maintenance. Almost not worth it.

Can’t remember what the first one recall was a few months ago, had to do something with a program update...now we have 2 more. Enter your VIN in the Toyota owners website and you will see them.

I had one for the SRS system as well. “Under certain conditions the air bags might not deploy”, so they did a software update.

Could just be that they had parts when you scheduled but they got used on another truck. Who knows. It's a little irritating having to go back but it happens.

OP, make sure you give that dealership a proper spanking when you get the survey.
