so I’m torn between buying a hi-lift jack or a 1.5 ton aluminum jack and mounting it in the bed.

My only concern with the hi-lift is that I don’t have sliders so lifting points are minimal.

I think you would have to get and adapter to hook onto the rim but you couldn’t change a tire that way LOL might be able to lift it up by the trailer hitch but that seems inefficient. Might be somewhat useful in recovery but pretty useless if you don’t have sliders or heavy duty bumpers. Which is why I haven’t gotten one yet.

Practice using the Hi-Lift before hand. If you don't know what you're doing they can be dangerous.

Thank you for the input. I may just go with a HF 1.5 ton jack and mount it in the bed

I've heard alot of off roaders talking about hi-lift jack but never about pro eagles. I was just curious since it is kinda dangerous using those jacks.

Price point might be a reason. Hi-lift is proven, cheap and multifunction.

I've love one even just for at home, but they're a little out of my budget. I also don't offroad hard enough to need a full size jack. I won't be doing much other than changing a tire off road. A 5 ton bottle jack and wood blocks does the trick for me.

A good, cheap alternative is a scissor jack. I got one from a yard sale for $10 bucks. It was from a 69 Cadillac so you know it was beefy! :benchpress:

I would love a Pro Eagle! A bit pricey but 4WP has em cheaper than anywhere else.

With the hi-lift mate you can lift the truck up by the wheel, block the truck with your stand, remove the hi-lift jack and mate, and then work on your tire, right?

You can also invest in some limited recovery equipment and it functions as a limited winch until we can upgrade bumpers and get real winches. ;)
