    I've bee quite busy lately at work and have been hunting the last couple of days on my friends property above Apex at 10600ft and got a chance to drop back down to civilization for a few hours. I'm going after a huge 5 point Mulie that's been running with a couple of young forked horns that has been hanging around the spring on the property. Problem is the property is 10 acres and very narrow. Maybe 100ft wide. Rectangle. We are using private land only licenses (not good on public land) so it makes it a little harder to get this buck. 2nd rifle season just started so the Mulies are somewhat spooked now from all the hunting pressure and very low kill numbers this season so far according to Dept of Wildlife. Did bag two more grouse Saturday. Time to head back up.

    Very tasty. Similar to quail but much larger bird. Males are 3 to 4 lbs. Came back down this morning to take care of a few things. (Pay Bills). That 5 point has been very elusive. Luckily I got permission to hunt on an adjoining 17 acres of private land where this buck has been seen recently by the owner. Nice guy. Ask permission politely...and you usually get the OK. Doesn't hurt that my friend knows the owner. heh heh. I'll get caught up here Monday. I missed a lot of posts. Not even going to bother checking my emails now.

    I'm back. For now. Flushed up a bull elk Saturday on my friends property. Naturally I don't have an Elk tag. Didn't even see a doe the whole week. I saw zero hunters this weekend. Not a good sign. It's been unusually warm lately. Normally there is snow up there this time of year. Going back next weekend except I'm going to check out another 200 acre property that I can hunt on now. Higher up around 11,000ft. Time to catch up here. Oh...... my cheap sh*t "skid" plate is all fracked up. About ready to fall off. You can guess what I'm getting next for my truck.

    I finished up the install of my XM antenna yesterday. I temporarily positioned the antenna and drove up to mts on Saturday. Got full bars everywhere I went so I used some DAP Marine grade silicone seal to finish after prepping with alcohol wipes and alcohol beer:

    I guess I'm in the market for an aftermarket bumper. This happened Saturday morning about 4 blocks from my house. I'd just made a right turn from a stop to see two girls in a car veering towards me. Was either getting T-boned or evasive maneuver. I decided to evade by going up on the side walk. My rear end swung around enough to aim me at a power pole. The grille guard did it's job. It protected my headlight and hood but bumper and plastic broke and fender got fracked up. Girls kept going. I got a fender already. Now to decide to go with aftermarket bumper or go cheap and go OEM. My deductible is $1K, so cheaper in the long run to fix everything myself. Everything is all cosmetic damage anyways. Shit.......

    Everything was slo-mo. I was maybe doing 5 mph at best when I hit the pole. The girls managed to not hit anybody else and kept going. If I hadn't of gotten out of the way , my truck would have been at least side swiped which would have been worse out come. It was one of those "REALLY????" moments. This event pretty much forces me to decide whether to go with an aftermarket winch bumper. I have all winter to figure this out. The bumper was initially bent up against my tire. I used a tree in the front yard and my Wheelers snatch strap to yank it away. :frusty::facepalm::annoyed::lalala::puke::popcorn::taco:
