2007 Tundra, 4.7 liter, SR5 regular cab, 80k miles. Leak under rear end of truck, right in center. Also brakes have to be stood on to work and brake light is on. Can you tell me what I'm looking at and guessitimate of cost to fix? Thanks.

Is the fluid brake fluid? Is the brake fluid low?

What part of the world are you in? The salt and rust part? Could be a rusted out steel brake line. Could be all sorts of things. Pics and / or more information would help.

He lives in the salt belt, so hopefully the rear diff is just a 3rd member gasket leak. To complete that job, the third member has to come out. 4 hours labor.

If the the axle has rusted through, I would get one out of a junkyard and swap it out.

The brakes on the Tundra are impressive. If you need to stand on them to stop, there’s some serious problems. Sounds like some stuck calipers. If the rust isn’t to bad, you can rebuild them. Pretty easy.
