Wondering if anyone has info on the best option for remote starter for 2017 Tundra, or one for sale. Actually any info as far install or prices or experience.

Not the factory one, I absolutely hate it, and I’ve probably only used it once or twice in two years.

I got mine from James at tech12volts. he sells the Fortin Evo one with a t harness and depending if you have a security system (my 17 did) you'll need to splice into only 1 wire. I use it every morning before work. he also sells an extra accessory to allow you to use your phone to remote start. just the fact that he sells the t harness got me, that way you don't need to tap into a bunch of wires. its really simple if you plan to diy

I have the Viper 5906V alarm with remote start and pager system. I like that it shows the inside car temperature when I start my truck. It also has a timer option for how long it runs after you start it. Lots of other cool features can be added. Like remote start and alerts from your phone anywhere in the world. 095C7353-B4B2-459E-B13C-0412FFB915F2.jpg

The one 1 got for my 19 was 90% pnp. Only 1 wire had to be spliced super easy.

Definitely looking into one of these suggestions - even though my 19 doesn't have remote start, my 17 did and I hated it because of the inability to keep it running once you unlock/enter vehicle. Just retarded

I got the Compustar on mine but I liked the idea I could start it from three miles away.

I only tested it from about a mile and a half.
I kayak and want my truck warm as I know I wont be.

That and I had them figure out how to roll my windows, moon roof and rear window up when I arm it.

I know I will forget to do it and where I am it will rain the minute I forget.

I personally have a 2017 SR5 and installed the one from James are 12tech as mentioned above. I'm not the greatest with electronics, but installed his (not the plug and play version) and it wasn't bad. Took me maybe an hour because I was moving slowly since I was nervous cutting wires on a truck that was only a few months old haha. I use mine often and enjoy it. I like that it doesn't kill the engine after I get in and that I was able to utilize my factory key fob instead of another one on my key ring. James is a great stand-up guy that'll walk you through things and truly cares about what he does and his customers! Can't go wrong going with his.

Had the dealer install Drone Mobile to start from a phone app.. I hate carrying an extra key fob to start my truck.. Works great, but there is a service fee (about $40 / year if you pay for 3 years up front).. Works great, unlimited range, and you could add users to the app as well to open your doors or whatever if you lock yourself out.

Whatever you guys do, do not make any purchases from a seller under the name of “bender2486” or “Speed of sound”. Bought a remote start system from him and had terrible service and the damn thing quit working. I sent it back and he never responded.

12 volt... installed mine this week. Probably took under an hour, including finding my tools and cleaning up.

I bought my Compustar from bender2486, last year. 20 minute install and still working fine. I contacted him and he replied back quickly.
Sorry to hear about your issues, I'm surprised to hear that. He still has 100% positive feedback.

I just had a compustar remote start installed in my 2019. This is the 4th vehicle I've installed compustar systems on. I've had the same tech install mine on all four vehicles He's very knowledgeable. I like the possibility of upgrading the system with the compustar if you would like to in the future.

He was very helpful through the whole purchase process and install. He was even with me on the phone while I installed it. When I began having issues with the system that's when I could no longer get a hold of him. I tried emailing him and calling him and never received a reply until I called him from a different number. When I finally talked to him last July, he told me to send a part back of the unit and that he would send me a new one. Here we are almost 1 year later, and I have never received it. I know he has 100% positive feedback and that's why I purchased from him initially. I began having issues after 2 or 3 months and I was going to try and leave a negative review, but the response window had expired.
