Ok, so I ordered a vinyl hood decal that I had mentioned in another thread. Got it today, and to my surprise, it is in two pieces. I would have thought this would be one solid piece.

So how do you think this will look, having what I would assume a visible line down the center where the two pieces meet. Can someone knowledgeable on vinyls give me some input?

Below is a photo sheet that come with it to show the install.

I contacted the place where I got it, and they said that is normal and you wont notice the meeting of the two pieces. Humm..

It is going to take some time to line up the decals perfectly to one another so you don't have a gap or overlap. My guess the reason for this is the machine they use to cut the vinyl isn't big enough to handle the full decal size. This is the reason i went full custom vs having it cut out.... machine wasn't large enough.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. Going to line it all up and tape markers to use. Then lots of water to float it right.

Looks like someone cut that thing out at home on their Cricut scrapbooking machine that will only take 12" wide feed.

If I received that and it wasn't advertised that way, I'd be pissed.

I work at Toyota Logistics and we install the clear hood protection pieces on Highlander's, Sienna's & Sequoia's. We use distilled water mixed with a small amount of baby shampoo. Not sure what they suggest but I would probably install the lower piece (one closes to the grill) first. Good luck and post pictures when done!

If you have concern about the line up perhaps you can locate a local who puts decals and such on vehicles and have them do it. Probably would cost you much. That is what I did with the decals on my truck.

Well I did the Decal. It had the potential to look good, but it wasn't cut right and there is a gap between the two pieces. I actually slightly over laid the right side so the gap could have been bigger. I'll be emailing for a refund and finding one that is a single piece.

Yeah, who knows. I just emailed them and with photos. I should have stuck to my gut and sent it back as soon as I saw that it was two pieces. I'll see what this seller does and be sure to notify the group to my experience. I called another place and they only do a single full decal. So will probably have to bite the bullet on this one and get that.

So you are talking about buying a large piece of vinyl and making it? Basically put this line down on the edges, lay the vinyl over it, and then pull these up to cut it?
