Today I found this kit: https://advancedkeys.com/Prod_AK105B.html

I emailed the company quite a few questions regarding compatibility and some other concerns. Hopefully I get all my questions answered. If this kit works on my truck the way it is described I will buy it. I think the price is great since it includes remote start capability (which I want).

Once/if I get answers I will post my questions with the provided answers just in case somebody else is interested. I had push button start and keyless perimeter functions on my last three trucks and loved it, my wife's BMW has it as well.

I'd be interested to see some reviews, but there would have to have about 50 people say it works flawlessly before i even considered messing with replacing the ignition.

I downloaded the manuals but haven't had a chance to read them yet, I think one of the two brain boxes is made by Fortin from what I read so far. Trust me, I will do more research before buying it.

By the way, I really like my current truck and wouldn't mind spending 400.00, a lot cheaper then buying a 2020 and mine will be paid for by then.

Thats the one thing i did not like about the tundra its 2018 and we are using a key and the remote is on the key. Im in florida and i used to stop at the store for a second leave the truck running and lock it with the fob and go inside to keep the a/c on what not. Just seems crazy not to be push start or the option to. Ill be in if you get this figured out. Bravo

When I got home after work I looked through the instructions and the installation appears to be pretty involved, the instructions also answered some of my questions. All the instructions are on the page I linked in post #1 if interested. Going back to the site, I found the dealer locator and there is a shop about 100 miles away from me. I emailed them as well to get a quote for an installed system.

I am willing to pony up 800.00 installed. I was going to buy a hydro boost brake kit for my Chevelle but that can wait since I hardly ever take her out during the winter. I hope I get some emails within the next few days.

I don't know, but it has its own built in remote start. That is how I found it when I was searching remote start option for my truck.

That what I was thinking when I looked through the instructions. I could probably do it but I am to lazy and now that I am old have more money then time so I just pay for it if I get the right answers.

The shop they list and I contacted is a high end restoration and Hot Rod shop near St. Louis, MO. Their website suggest that they are pricey and reminds me of one of those shops on the Velocity channel, we'll see.

Where would u mount it? I see there is a drill cutter u can buy for the button hole. I seriously like this but i also like my system from viper wher i can start from the phone, lock and unlock anywhere.

This is pretty cool and affordable mod. I liked the push button on my Corvette, and my 07' Lexus has push button start and it is just nice.

Looking at my dash layout I think the place for the button would be below the left center vent. I would rather have it in the wood trim piece below the instrument cluster and right next to the center stack but I doubt that there is enough room.

Ok so yes I want this. But does turning the key not unlock the steering wheel and the trany shifter like in days gone by? I don't see anything in its "in the box description " that looks like it does that functon.

In the instructions it says that you have to get a key made (no chip), cut the top off and insert that in the steering lock and keep it in the ACC position; there is a plastic cover for that to cover the lock. The shift interlock should be an electric solenoid which is activated by the brake pedal when the ignition is on.

I am not to keen about having the steering unlocked all the time though.

Yeah me either its nice and all but not a fan of leaving the steering unlocked all times. Maybe 2020 the tundys will have push to start lol

No thanks, My loaner car had one once with a dead battery in the fob with no ignition switch in it. Had to use another car to pickup replacement battery in order to start it!

The vehicle tells you fob battery life if you can’t change it that’s kind of on you

A keyless button would be nice, but, I've been using a regular key for the last 40 years or so. I don't see a need to change it out to a keyless ignition.

Well, I have been waiting on replies to my emails butt haven't received any up to this point. I looked at some YouTube videos and the people that have the kit seem to be happy with it; I just don't want to do the install myself....way to involved.

Today I did receive an email response from the shop in St. Louis I contacted. See below.......looks like I have to wait a little bit.

    Quote:

    Hi Hans,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. We are in the middle of building a new facility and it has taken up much more of my time and energy than I expected.

Yes, we are a dealer for Advanced Keys. It is really a great product. At this time we have only been installing them on classic cars that we retrofit with all new modern features. After we get moved into the new facility (about the first of April) we will have more techs available. At that time we will be able to do more installs, like yours. As for price, I will have to get back with you on that for your particular car. When I am able to get the pricing together for you, it will include the price of the kit. It is easier if we purchase the kit for in house warranty reasons.

Again, I apologize for the delayed response.

    Thank you,

So did anything ever come of this @71_340?

Been looking for a reliable option for push to start/remote start.

Probably one of the only reasons I wanted the new Silverado and some point. Still doesn't help it not be fugly, tho.
