Just got these back from the paint shop today, they turned out flawless.

    Here's the details:

    Main housing: Matte black

    Three reflector/LED bowls: Gloss black

Side and center reflectors: Gloss black

Trim around lens (outer): Matte black

Resealed with Morimoto retro-butyl, added black aluminum LED bulbs for back-up.

    Final assembly before lens
    IMG_5330.jpg

Lens installed you can see the Matte black trim around the outer edge, hides the seam gives a clean look

I'll add some pics of the tail lights lit up tomorrow, Spyder claims the LED's are Phillips super bright and crisp.

Contemplating having the white LED tubes "smoked" give the lights more stealth look, thoughts?

As I was looking at the pics I was saying to myself, "he should smoke those white tubes". So yeah I'd say smoke them out. Curious as to some pics with them lit up. Especially the reverse lights. You have auxiliary lights in the bumper so I guess it's not a huge deal for you, but reflector-less backup lights don't sound like they will work well. They sure do look good though.

Painting the reflectors is definitely going to lower the output, I installed the brightest backup bulbs I could find to offset the paint As you mentioned with the bumper backup lights it wasn’t a big concern. I did paint the bowls a high gloss not sure how much that helps.

I was on the fence on smoking the DRL tubes, I figured it was a nice match to my headlights, since I frosted the LED DRL’s they have a white look to them.

Maybe I’ll sell this set of tail lights and mod another set, it pains me to think about re-opening them since they turned out IMO perfect and a sealed really well.

These Spyder tail lights, look like neon-tubes when lit up at night. The red is the perfect color, the clear lens gives a super crisp look.

The smoked version loooks good, they are the standard Spyder tail light though not the “retrofit friendly” version. You could however, smoke the lens on the retrofit version after you’ve customized the inside.

You might have already tried this, flip the signal connector, it’s polerirty specific. If you are using an LED reverse bulb flip it around as well. If that doesn’t work, you might have blown fuse for the tail lights.

Need some help wiring all this. Where did you connect the yellow turn signal wires? Where did you run the red and black to? Do you have pictures of your wiring set up? Where you ran all the wires under the truck?

Are those Spyder? The light set I installed didn’t have any external wiring that wasn’t plug-n play (into the vehicles tail light harness). The internal wires were mostly connected as well.
