A few months back I was woken up at 5am on a Sunday by my phone ringing. In a daze trying to figure out what was going on I ignored the call. Only to recognize seconds later I had 10 missed calls all from a crew that was working in Colorado who were traveling back to Phoenix that weekend.

My heart skipped a beat freaking out about what was wrong that I would receive so many calls. I called the crew back and found out they had lost control in the snow and rolled the truck off the highway between Winslow and Flagstaff.

Everyone was ok. Not a single scratch or bruise on any of them! Side curtain airbags were a blessing! A semi-truck driver called in the accident as DPS arrived before any of them could even call for help.

I dressed immediately and started driving north to rescue these 4 guys that were just trying to get home. I picked them up a few hours later in Winslow in my wife's Armada; they were in surprisingly good spirits considering everything.

A few days later I returned with a truck and trailer to bring their equipment and the truck back to Phoenix so we could sort out what was salvageable. What do you know, the son of a bitch still ran! We drove it up on to the trailer after getting a jump start. Ended up parting the Tundra out bit by bit.

We are very grateful no one got hurt from this happening. Its a testament to me of our fleet of Tundras.

Don't worry, we got her moved over a little farther for the ride over. ;)

Have to say these things are tough. Mine was a rollover at 70mph. And here I am driving it. Driver wasn’t hurt in mine. Looking at your damage it’s a blessing no one was hurt. She did her job though

I'm guessing he's calling it that because it's a DC. I can see that argument. The DC's and AC's probably look like different trucks to a lot of people. They have different interiors, different exteriors/dimensions, different transmission and VVTI. I know others will disagree and I guess Toyota would as well?

It's murky, cause the 2004 DC didn't have VVti and still had the A340E/F 4sp AT....

In my intro post someone else said they like to think of these bigger Double Cabs as a 1.5gen since they have a bit of a face lift from the earlier single cabs/access cabs.

Similarly with Tacomas "2.5 gen" trucks when they got a facelift/update in 2012 before the 3rd gen coming in 2016.
