Anyone replace the three dash speakers in a 3rd gen tundra. I picked up a set of 3 1/2 inch for the center and tweeters for the corners but the wiring makes absolutely no sense. Tried looking for the wiring diagram but nothing talks about the dash speakers. Any help would be appreciated. Was even looking to see if anyone made plug and play harnesses but no luck.

Yep. Check the audio threads. I believe green was positive.

This is a wiring location at the factory amp (non JBL) But it may help with what you need.

What do you mean it makes no sense? What are you trying to wire the speakers to? Amp? New head unit? Or are you just putting new speakers in place of the old ones? If the latter, the cut the plug off the wires going to the speakers and connect them to your new speakers.

Cant do it that way. It is a four wire connector that plugs into the stock speaker. Speakers have capacitors mounted to them. Have new plugs that are four wire, but two have to go to speaker and two some place else. Just not sure which two go to the speaker.

Mine only has 2 wires going to the center channel iirc. If you have 4, and i think I have seen some other trucks like this too. I would just tie the two positives from the new speakers together, as well as the negatives. And then so the same with the OEM wiring. Find out which 2 of the 4 wires are positive and which two are negative and twist them together. Then connect your 2 pos to the trucks 2 pos ,and negs to negs?
Not sure why some trucks have 4 wires and some 2. I think I helped @Migraine troubleshoot this same issue. Maybe she can pop in and let us know how it worked out

I'll try your idea in the morning. Got a few things to do to the truck. First gotta make sure that I even have power to the dash speakers. Had new head unit, amp and speakers done awhile ago and not even sure that the dash speakers were wired up. install didn't cut into any harness's but I could see spending all this time chasing a problem that didn't exist. Hoping that replacing the dash speakers will give me more volume while talking on the phone. Volume extremely low during phone calls even with setting maxed out for one.

Oh I didn't know you had a new head unit and amp. Wiring to the factory plug will not work in all likelihood.
I installed a kenwood in my truck and an amp. My amp powers my door speakers and my sub. For the dash speakers I decided to run them off the head units speaker outputs, so I ran wires directly from the headunit harness to each dash speaker.
So the corner speakers I wired to the headunit front speaker outs, and the center speakers I wired to the headunits rear speaker outs. They sound really good and I used them as a starting point for tuning the gain on my amp. I turned my gain up til my door speakers were slightly louder than my dash.

My kenwood is from 2015 so it allows this to work. I have heard that some newer headunits wont work like this. Basically if you connect RCA cables to front and rear RCA outs, to an amp, the headunit turns off its internal amp and wont power any speakers from its speaker outs. I have only heard that though, it may not be true.

Would you happen to know which speakers are used during a phone call. I can't see it being all of them. Volume is awful during a call but outstanding when playing music.

I like that idea of running the dash speakers straight from the head unit. May have to get into the dash tomorrow after all new rotors and pads brake job.

It was really easy. Headunit pulls out easy, remove speakers in corners and used a coat hanger to snake the wire over. Very easy project

I think it's all of them as far as factory setting but I could be wrong, just the center or just dash would make the most sense. On my kenwood in am set it to just front, or all. O chose just front.

    Any luck wiring this up?

SMK shoe did you ever figure out how to make the incoming phone audio better? Did replacing the dash speakers help?
