I've been watching his videos for a while now. That's a great DIY video.

Nice video and all but the light looks blue, nasty. Then again the light bar is like $80.

He is using an sPOD. That’s the little bank of relays that is mounted on his fuse box behind the truck’s battery. Switches for sPOD are located in the space previously occupied by the sunglasses holder. You can see him reach up by the rear view mirror and turn the light on or off in the video.

I’ve got the newer Bantam version of sPOD in my 2018 and it’s so awesome when adding powered accessories. Makes it too easy…

I’ve got a new BD 40” S8 light bar and SDHQ hood bulge install kit sitting in the shop, just waiting to be installed. We’re off for vacation tomorrow, so it’s going to wait a few more weeks….

Easy to go through wire harness on driver's side, comes out under dash by steering wheel , above brake pedal

You are in for a fun and interesting install. Patience is definitely needed for this mod.

Oh? I wasn’t expecting it to be the easiest thing in the world, but would love to hear more about your experience! It does sort of look like the proverbial 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag situation.

    What’s the bad part(s)?

I just did this install, and it wasn’t too bad! Seems like slow and steady is the trick! Love the output on the s8 light bar and the hidden install in the hood.

FYI - I’ve been waiting patiently for the new color matched hood buldge to arrive from Toyota (it’s been on back order for most of this year.) It appears they redesigned the two hooks on the top ends. To my surprise, the hood buldge no longer requires any trimming. Not sure what led Toyota to make this modification, but glad they did!

Interesting. I don't remember having to trim the hood bulge at all.
