Does anyone know how to fix this tire pressure warning thing? It came up after new tires installed and I take back to shop and they reset them. And then the yellow sign turned off and it read the pressure after a few mins drive. And then it turn back on. I tried reset button and then it says it’s recalibrating wait few mins. Idk if I just have to wait while parked or I have to drive around. I also have the old tires with sensors in bed could they possibly cause the problem too? Any suggestions??

It may take 30-60mins for the recalibration procedure. Try it again and give it some time.

Did you install new sensors? If so, those sensors need to be calibrated by inputting the serial numbers into a tech stream for the system to recognize them.

So thats how the computer recognizes the tire placement?
My previous vehicle you would deflate or inflate the air pressureof the tires in a specific order and thats how it would learn which tire was where.

So a tech scan is required for tundras?

If you installed new sensors, then those sensors have to be linked up to your system. It’s not as simple as it just recognizes pressure anymore. It has to recognize the serial numbers as well.

If this occurred after tire change, I would suspect a broken sensor. They should be able to tell by using their handheld scanner. In my case one sensor had no output. I currently have a broken sensor and have the same error message in my meter.

Only Toyota tech stream can program new sensors.

Why wouldn’t you have just put your oem in the new wheels? I hate aftermarket sensors. Too damn finicky.

Unless you've done this on a 2018+, you may not be correct. Op has a 2018 like I do, and sensors/programming is different.

They used new oem? Or your existing oem? If brand new, they need to be relearned with a tech stream. This is why most just swap their oem into the new wheels.

No worries. It is different. The part number is different, and programming is different.
My thread documenting my experience thus far is here:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/programming-2018-tpms.44589/

tldr: 3/4 of my new sensors are programmed correctly in TechStream. I suspect one sensor was broken during install, and will be replaced today.

Don’t need to input serial. I had discount tire recalibrate my sensors...

I almost ran into the same issue. I traded my 2017 tundra for a 2019 but swapped the aftermarket wheels/tires from the old truck to the new. I wanted to argue with Discount Tire that they should not have to swap sensors (thus, charging me) since there’s only a difference of 2 years. But their scanner/programmer registered different readings from the old to the new. I’m gonna assume it’s related to the not yet available TSS on the 2017 and it being on the 2019.

Nothing to do with the TSS. Toyota changed the type of sensors in 18’.

Yes, the sensors are different on 18+...I just went through with this issue, same error message on my 2019 after changing my tires/rims. Just make sure you have the right one.

Hey all, buying a 2018 Tundra and thinking of installing new aftermarket tires and rims. may buy new TPMS to install in the new rims just to leave the other ones in the factory to keep or maybe sell. So if I get NEW sensors as I read I may have to get (only )Toyota to scan the new ones into my truck?

Lots of threads on this topic, search function is your friend. Many (like me) have gone to tire shops other than the stealership to get sensors programmed in with aftermarket wheels and tires.

My loca tire shop installed Autel sensors and work fine.

For 2018+ you don't need Techstream or a tire shop to register new TPMS sensor ID codes. Per the stack of dead trees included with the truck:

Page 498 - register new ID codes:
    tpms register.jpg

After that you need to initialize the system - Page 496-497:
    tmps 2.jpg

If after doing these it doesn't work you have a bad sensor. For some reason the TPMS system will show -- for all wheels if 1 or more sensors is bad (which is dumb). In that case the dealer or tire shop should be able to tell you which one is bad. Happens a lot ... already had 1 TPMS sensor in my 2018 replaced under warranty due to a dead battery.

    Alot of them
The 18 and up will only work with certain sensors though. Mine have been on order for 3 weeks now.

I bought a set of Off Roads with 300 miles to use in the winter. Put them today and hit the button 3 times. Drove all over for close to an hour without them registering. Finally went home and said to hell with it. Parked the Tundra in the garage and then decided to work on the 4 wheeler and pulled the truck back out of the garage and the light went out and registered all 4 tires.

Your truck is a 2020 Sport.... Does it have push button start..?

If so... what kind of sensors did you use in the Off Roads..?

So I have been dealing with this crap for a while now. Had Discount put new tires on and they broke a sensor. So that started the debacle that has followed. According to their sensor detector the only sensor that registered was the sensor they replaced. So they decided I should replace all the sensors with their sensors. An still have the warning lights to this day. Do I actually need the factory sensors or can I get the serial numbers of these Discount sensors and then have the dealer input them?

This is the first time I have had this issue with Discount but mine is a 2020 and I'm sure they have seen a lot of them. Just frustrating going back and forth cuz ever since the Wuhan hit every one and their mother all of a sudden wants tires. Long wait times.

I changed tires same thing happened. Took it in and was a damaged sensor.

The blame game, Toyota said it was tire installer, installer denied breaking it.

My Off Road tires came with the original sensors from the factory. Some guy traded them in for new rims and tires and a lift kit. They left the sensors in and added new ones to his new rims. My Tundra dose have push button start.

Well I found out that they did not learn the new wheel but put the old wheels back in and proceeded to shut the light off. I had a guy at the tire shop check with his tool but could not see any of them. He was pretty sure that the sensors were there.

Am I better off going to the stealership or buying a tool to learn the IDs . I have TechStream so if I know the IDs I can program them. I will be going thru this twice a year so I don't mind investing in a tool that will make life easier.
