I've tried searching and found a lot of discussion on which sensor to use for 2018 trucks, but not quite what I'm looking for on programming them. I've seen various posts on the TechStream software on ebay being capable of this, but also seen threads on issues due to the field within the ebay TechStream software being limited to the number of digits that can be inputted.

I'm purchasing a new set of wheels and tires, and will leave my stock wheels/tires/sensors as-is.

I'm going to purchase 4 new Toyota TPMS. I am purchasing (4) 42607-0C091 along with install kits. These will be installed in Method alloy wheels.

I went by a local tire shop today to check on tires, and after interacting with them, it does not sound like their tool will be compatible with the 2018 TPMS. *Their handheld tool is able to read the sensor ID, but not able to program new sensors.

Is there any confirmed way to program the 2018 TPMS that does not require a visit to the dealer?

    5/5/19 Update:
    I followed this thread:
    https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73034
and installed the drivers for the MVCI cable onto a Windows 7 64 bit laptop. Once I was able to use the Firmware update tool to confirm that Windows recognized the MVCI cable (the firmware application responded that the tool was connected, and there were no hardware conflicts in Device Manager), I continued on to Techstream installation.
I tried several iterations of Techstream and found a mismatch of features/model years/etc... that would not get me all the way through the TPMS utility. As of 5/5/19 I was able to program 3/4 sensors (42607-0C091) using Techstream v. 12.02.024. One sensor is no longer outputting any signal and will be replaced. I suspect the tire installer damaged this sensor upon installation.

Ive received 2 different answers on this.

    1) The 2017 software does not work for 2018. Most shops are 1-2 years behind because they arent swapping tires out for new models. Goto the dealer.
    2) There is an issue with the software for Toyota and (fill in the blank of other manufacturer), and they wont even attempt to reset the TPMS. Goto the dealer.

So I stopped by discount tire today.
They were able to read the IDs on my current sensors, so I'm hoping they can reprogram.

I'll keep this updated as I find out...

They were able to read mine but unable to reprogram. Good luck!

They had the 2017 software version which could read the sensors but couldnt reprogram a 2018.

Another shop I went to had the 2018 software but it always failed for Toyotas and I think he said Lexus

I swapped out my Steele’s for trd rims, bought new sensors and tech stream off eBay. I programmed tpm’s with no problem.

Will you link to the techstream you purchased?

So I had a long day at the tire shop today getting new wheels/tpms/tires mounted.

The shop confirmed that they were unable to program new sensors due to the 2018+.

However, I noticed that I was getting accurate read outs from all four sensors in the gauge cluster both times I started the vehicle and allowed it to idle for a few minutes... weird. Hopefully this just needs to be programmed.

I'm going to order the cable posted by @bfd300 and report back with findings.

    Thanks all for the help.

Make sure you write down the codes for all 4 sensors before you mount the tires. You will need to enter the codes manually in the tech stream software.

I snapped a picture of each sensor before they were installed. :)

So ive spent the last few hours getting techstream up and running...

I was able to clear dtcs on the tpms but it's not intuitive how to reprogram new sensors.

Where is the menu located to reprogram the new sensors? I watched a Youtube video and noticed the narrator selected a "Utility" link from the TPMS page in Techstream. Techstream 13.00.022 does not provide me with the same link.

That worked. However, it looks like I've got one broken sensor, which is not surprising to me. I'll be ordering a new sensor and returning to the tire shop that mounted tires.

    Thank you for your help.

Well... The saga continues for me.

The software quoted above DOES work to successfully program sensors for 2018.

Turns out one of the installers installed a bad aftermarket sensor in my wheel, and not the new Toyota sensor I supplied. The shop is reimbursing me for my fifth sensor.

In the process of swapping sensors, they did not rebalance the wheel, so at 65 mph I had quite a bit of seat vibration. I returned to the shop for them to rebalance the wheel and they severely scratched the wheel... So the shop will have to buy me a new wheel.

Now I'm back at the shop because the valve is leaking from the wheel...

Will an 8 digit code sensor work on a 2018? Just bought some used rims with tpms but they were pre 2018

    They're not interchangeable.

The 2018+ register actual pressure. I'm not certain that <2017 have that capability.

Any sensor will need to be registered to tpms module no matter what brand you go with new or used
