The only way you can do this is if you go to start up the car, then go back inside and forget the key... but being that the key doesnt need to leave your pocket to start it means that its an operator error. All my cars for the past 8 years have had push button and i really dislike fumbling for keys while holding items to and from the car. But, its all about personal preference.

    Yes, it is,
If a thief whats your car, they will get it. slim jim the lock, hot wire, break the steering lock, break the window, have it towed off, mug you, carnapping and on and on....................................................
Nothing will stop a thief if they want it.

How much did it cost you? Is this something most dealers would have, or did you buy this on your own separately?

Dealer bought and installed and covered by the warranty.
It was about $900 for install and kit.
The product will differ from different dealers i imagine.

    FYI,
When I'm warming the car in the morning (in cold weather), I always lock it when i go in the house so no one can jump in.

In my wife's Lexus she usually has the FOB. We will be out and about, drop her off somewhere, I go somewhere down the road for a few. Several times, I remember only after I go down the road that I did not have the FOB. Can be a PIA.

I find it very reassuring that when the key is in my pocket, no one is gonna hack my truck. I don’t want a remote start or a push button start. I’m also grateful that my truck is a 2015, so none of the safety nonsense is on there. I suppose that I’m what you call an anachronism, but I just don’t give a hoot.

It warns you when keys are out of range. My 2018 Tacoma beeped and had lights come on. Out of range is a couple feet from the truck too so not a huge issue.

Yeah, my wife's last car was a 2010 Altima with push to start. As long as you started the car with the key in it, it didn't matter if the key was in the vehicle while driving. Another friend of ours with a newer Hyundai has had to leave her car running for 3 to 4 hours because her husband was standing beside the car with the key in his pocket and the car started and she never got the key from him.

Def not a setting you can change. It's an overall safety feature. I have done this countless times in my Audi. Having a turn key is way better in that regard.

In my Ram the moment the fob was out the vehicle a very annoying beep started if the vehicle was running and a light flashed saying “no key fob”. Yes could drive off but not without knowing. Unless you’ve got “Run Like Hell”(hence my user name)cranked up to 11 and are half blind.

I was chatting with my friend who manages at a Toyota dealership. He said the code for the 2020 tundra is a direct carry over so there won’t be any changes.

Didn't someone post a actual picture of the push start earlier? Confirming that it's coming in 2020?

Curious about how difficult the install is for this. the system itself isn't that expensive

I had the dealer 3rd party install so I dont know the install details.
The reason I had them do it is to be covered under the warranty.

Did the dealer install an aftermarket part or oem? My dealer told me they will not install this. You have to go independent shop or do it yourself

After they install it. Does your wheel lock when the car is off? Or is it on accessory mode all the time
