Got a quote for JL audio system.
Thinking of paying the install price to save myself the hassle.

Prices match up online as far as I can see.

Looks like a great deal but then again I don’t know anything about audio. If it were me I would buy a few boxes of Padrons, a couple bottles of Glenfiddich whiskey but that’s just me. Beautiful truck by the way!

    Doesn't look too bad.
You might want to ask them how much to upgrade from the loc to the fix86. It will clean up the dirty signal from the head unit and make the speakers sound better.

You can get away with just disconnecting the dash tweeters and not replacing them. Your tweeters from the front components should be enough.

If they rewire the whole truck then the labor is about right. It takes a lot of time. will they add sound mating to the truck as well ?

I don't think sound mating is included and he mentioned putting something in the head to flatten the sound so the amp would take care of it.

I have done a lot of business with them over the last 20 years so thought I should just go there and see what they can do. He said it might take 10 hours but he guarantees it done in 8 so I wont pay more.

The tweeters in the front will be mounted on the door towards the front of the the window. Like a wedge on the window.

He is going to set it up tomorrow so i can hear it in his sound booth to see if I like it and asked me to bring some music.

He said he can upgrade the speakers to the next class for 2500.00 total so I may do that. They are the c2 speakers

Also, most people like having 6.5" components in the doors. More option and sound better in my opinion.

Labor isn’t taxable in California, and my tax rate is only 7.75, which if I think I remember from last week when I was in tech center at top golf...is less then you in Colorado....

You mean in Denver Metro. City tax is pretty high. The state as a whole is very low taxes. We have TABOR. Look it up.

Maybe , I thought top golf was in aurora. The only reason I brought up tax in the first place, is I’ve had a shop or two, (usually smaller), puff up tax numbers to make a few extra bucks because people compare prices and generally just ignore the tax number...so I always make a habit of checking tax numbers..

Not maybe. "Tax payer bill of rights" Aurora is a sanctuary city...ie...Denver Metro...high city taxation.

It didn't. I lived in Kali for years. Starting in the 60's. Most recently for 17 years in aerospace related calibration. Been here since 2004. Left Van Nuys. Still a Dodger fan. That's about it. What's cool is all those aerospace companies moved out here because of low taxes. Colorado is the #1 aerospace state now.

I would trade the 6x9s in front for 6 1/2's and save some cash by not running any dash speakers. Dan is right on about not really needing them once you have a good set of components in the doors. That saved money could upgrade the LOC to a Fix which will sound better. Or even better yet put it towards a decent head unit.

I want to keep the head unit just for original feel. I dont really use any of the apps except for xm radio and thet is once in a while.

I just want the sound to be better. It sounds like a Bose kitchen radio from the 90s and doesnt make my drive enjoyable.

I would rather not listen to music.

My phone sounds better to me than the stock stereo.

In my opinion the head unit is a large part of the problem you can fix that with signal processing but it's the head unit that's sending a weak signal to the amp my system sounded way better after switching to the new head unit

If you want to keep the factory HU look into the fix86. If you do get it, make sure to get the Drc knob. You will use as kind of like a coarse volume adjustment and the factory volume knob as the fine volume adjustment......if that makes sense.
