Hi everyone. Long story short it looks like I have a brake caliper hanging up. At a minimum I will need new calipers and rotors turned, if not new rotors as well. And while I’m at it “I might as well upgrade”

Sounds like the z36 is the most popular choice? Or is there another good option now? The best price ive seen is on rock auto for about 300 (after core). Anywhere else cheaper? And most importantly for those that are running it, are you happy with it? How long do the brake pads last long term?

Right now I tow a trailer that weighs about 2900 so nothing heavy, but in the future plan on purchasing one in the 5,000 lb range. Thanks!

I have the Z36 kit. I got mine from AutoAnything. I have had the same pads for over 4 years now.

I have them on my first gen. I love them. I have used them for maybe 4K miles. No issues at all however. They send everything you need and instructions on bedding the new pads/rotors. Follow those exactly and you should be golden. Bleed your brakes well and with these you’ll have a noticeable improvement in braking performance. At least I did.

If you have any other specific questions feels free to ask! Best of luck!

I went with that kit on my 01 with 35x12.5 tires. I put about 35k miles on it and there's plenty of pad left. As mentioned above, follow the instructions and your good to go.

Appreciate all the info! I actually couldn’t justify the money for the z36 brake kit in the end since I don’t tow anything heavy at the moment. But then I found the Callahan brake kits on Amazon. Drilled and slotted rotors with new calipers and pads for 225 shipped. I was a little hesitant but read some good reviews, and in more than one place it was mentioned Callahan owns powerstop and it’s pretty much the same thing. So I ordered it and hopefully it works out. I’ll put a review up in a while with results.
