    I believe the switch only connects to the computer. The computer should see the open or closed and IF programmed to respond it should adjust the shifting of trans. Since not working, the computer may need to be "refreshed". If like a home computer the plug and play switch would tell computer it is there and the refresh may upload that portion of the missing program....
    All speculation but seems to make sense.
