Just a few questions Before I make the purchase

Does the wattage matter from the HU, I have the JBL system? If so what speakers does the HU run?

Also what mounting kit matches up the best? (The Scorche from the Pics I seen the it appear off in color and does not line up with the other trim)

    Opinions on these HU models

I like Metra mounting kit better. just get the crutchfield ready harness and it will plug your new HU straight to your current system. Make sure to tell them you have JBL system.

I went with the new Alpine ILX-W650.
I do the install myself but that's because I rewired the whole truck anyways.

however if you need to retain steering wheel audio commands you will need to add a Maestro or Axxess device.

The Pioneer has a clear resistive screen, which is not favored by most. The Alpine has the better capacitive touch screen.

For the money, I'd probably go with something like this - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX9705/Kenwood-DDX9705S.html?tp=20217

this is a great choice too. Has the Maestro compatibility and 2 USB out as well.

My vote is the Alpine, because of the capacitive screen. I resistive Car Play screen would be infuriating, I think.

I'm looking at the same Alpine model for Wireless Carplay

Thanks everyone for the input, does HU actually power any of the speakers if you have the JBL?

I guess then how does the system benefit getting louder? Most say the system sounds way better and louder just changing the HU. Sorry If it seems like a dumb question.

Believe with non JBL new HU is 50 watts x 4 vs. maybe 20 watts with stock HU.

New HU only with JBL will be passive or Low powered, using existing amp for power, hence not much if any improvements.

If you could bypass the amp you may get improvement, not sure what JBL system amp rated at.
