I bought a 2016 Tundra Platinum in white on Sunday.

My motivation for the purchase was that my Yukon Denali didn't serve my new hobby very well, as I'm an owner of 3 Husqvarna dirtbikes and sometimes I'm going to need to haul at least 2 of them.

I'm an active member of a couple moto forums; ADVrider.com and thumpertalk.com

I've realized the benefits of being on vehicle forums and hope to learn from the experiences in others in optimizing my Tundra.

I plan on eventually upgrading the wheels, lift kit, grill on the truck for sure.

A couple questions right off the bat. I haven't had an antenna on a car since 1999.... Can I just remove the thing? I don't listen to AM/FM radio.

My yukon denali had an oil viscosity sensor/reading, informed me of how long my oil might last, if it needed replacing. Does my Tundra Platinum have anything like that? I quickly read the owners manual and don't recall seeing any mention.

My avatar, Tiger Tanker, comes from the Triumph Tiger motorcycle I had in 2015, it looked like a tank. I took it deer hunting and after one kill the bike was totaled....

    Thanks!

    Welcome!
You can remove the antenna, but then you'll have a small hole to fill. Just buy a stubby antenna.

Maintenance: no, but you can check those items in the Engine IIRC. By default, it'll set your maintenance reminders to factory. That being said, I change mine every 5k with synthetic regardless.

When I carry the bikes, the tailgate has to be down. Too bad the reverse camera is on the tailgate. Can it be re-positioned for a person that has tailgate down?

The one in the back is a fe350, the two in the forefront are new 2016 te300 and fe450. These are the last of a 3 yr run. The 2017 model is the highly anticipated "new and improved". I opted for tried and true, world class, at a big discount.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase!!

Get a stubby antennae. Looks better than none and stock.

No, we don't but with synthetic, stick with 7-10k and you'll be golden.

The dog is fine with my 4 stroke bikes, not a fan of the 2 stroke at all. When I brought the new truck home, she barked and growled at it.... Then she realized it was "Her first new vehicle" and she wanted to go for a ride, even though she hates car rides. She was born into a dual Denali household so getting a Tundra was a howling big deal for her.

I really like my truck, but like my bikes, feel that stock they kinda look dorky and need mods. The bike pic above for example is the stock pics. My 300 is now just about fully modded out...

Looks a bit different, and so does my wallet...

    008.jpg
A hobby of mine is youtube biker videos. I do quite a bit of editing, music, etc. Not sure I'll do something similar with the truck, but the new bikes have a builder thread at ADVrider.com and I did make a video about the work my friend and I have done. Well, mostly him, because I'm not a mechanic at all...

Nice!! Used to bike a bit before I moved out to Florida and had to sell it (moved in an apartment with NO storage space or garage) haven't stayed in one place longer than two years since then so no bikes LOL

Bro, you're in the right place for truck mods then. Take a gander at the mods/tutorials and various build pages! You'll get plenty of ideas and guys on here help out in a huge way. You're set buddy!

Welcome to Tundras. I used to race MX, SC, and Hare Scrambles as a kid (age 10-16), then life took over. A few years ago I picked up a mint 07' CRF450R and I never got rid of the bike I had when I stopped racing (2001 CR125, still mint). I haven't been able to get out much the past two years but riding is my passion. What state are you in?

The reason I got the GMC was total value. Both are great products, but the Toyota was actually cheaper. In 28 years I'd NEVER had a good service experience with GM, so it's partially punishment.

I am certainly intrigued by the legendary total quality of Toyota.

I'm in WA State, a particularly good area for off road riding. Within an hour or two I have some incredible areas, but I can drive up to 8 hrs and get basically as much world class off road that a person could ride in several lifetimes.

Welcome from CO. That is a bad ass looking truck.

I would definitely say you made a great choice. GM or any manufacturer that has cylinder shutdown is prone to have problems.

I've seen this issue before. For the particular case I helped with the integrated amplifier was inconsistently rated (faulty MOBO). However, it could be a million different things. Even as simple as a bad ground. Regardless, take it in.

Seconding a dealer on this one.
