Borla or MagnaFlow? Muffler or exhaust set up?

I been looking around for an exhaust, flowmaster outlaw seems a bit too loud, so leaning towards Borla or MagnaFlow. Local shop suggested a muffler for $130 for magnaflow $150 for borla, keeping the rest of the factory components. Has anyone done this? Also offered me a magnaflow dual exhaust set up for $580 installed.

It sounds amazing when you're in the throttle, rumbles at idle and has the slightest drone at about 50mph.
I either go 45 or 55 and the drone goes away.....but sometimes I actually enjoy the drone.

The best part is, it very cleanly replaces the stock muffler; there's just an extra output. Super easy for a muffler shop to install.

 

I did flowmaster series 40 2 steps below series 10 outlaw loudest one...not loud at all dual in dual out

I did an 18" magnaflow dual in single out (just had the local shop weld a muffler in-everything else stock)

Sounds great! Not too loud except when you get on the go pedal. I guess there's a "drone" or whatever on the highway but it doesn't interfere with conversations, speakerphone, or the radio. Zero low end torque loss (some report that when going dual out). I'm happy with it.

I went with the Spintech Custom #3237, had shop install muffler and Tip, also had them paint exhaust black. Sounds good with minimal drone. Working on getting a video and pic of tip.

 

I might go with the muffler first, see how that works out. I like the way the duals look though Is there a big difference in sound between just the muffler or the dual muffler/exhaust? Ive read on here that there might be a drop in performance with the dual exhaust set up.

 

I've never heard of a performance "drop" after installing dual exhaust.

If that were the case, all performance cars would have single exhaust.

I'm completely OCD and having an exhaust tip on one side and not on the other nutted me up.
The duals look way more balanced.
