Finally fixed the ticking sound coming from the dash area of my 2014 platinum that started this winter. It's been driving me crazy and I've seen a number of other people complaining about it as well. I also had a rattle above my head in the headliner that I decided I would fix at the same time. That turned out to be the wiring for the dome light in the middle of the crewmax cab. The glue had failed and the wires were vibrating up there against the headliner. Anyway, that's gone too now.

As far as the dash ticking noise, here is what's up. I used awesome thread to remove my headliner completely. If all you need is to fix the ticking dash noise then you only need to get access to the very front part of the headliner where it meets the windshield. Probably just need to remove the A-pillars, sun visors, and the dome light / sunglasses holder module. Once you are able to pull down the headliner up front, you'll see there are 2 black tabs (one on the drivers side and one one the passenger side) that are part of the clip holding the windshield in place. The portion of these clips that vibrate and tick against the glass need to be eliminated. I ripped them both out with some needle nosed pliers. Keep in mind I just cut off the ends that are thin and floppy, not the rest of it that's glued down.

Once those were dealt with and I had done everything else I wanted to do with the headliner down (sound deadening and rattle fixes), I put the headliner back. Everything is gloriously silent.

I have one clicking sound in my truck. It’s when I have my driver side window down anywhere between one and about 4 inches. Every bump I hit it clicks. I’m pretty good about finding stuff like that but this one has got me stumped. It’s a very light click and it sounds like it comes from where the weatherstripping and window meet Near the upper portion of the window opening. Glad you found yours!

This old thread with new posts has helped me out. My windshield has this scratching/clicking sound right above the drivers seat when temps are closer to freezing. Shoved a business card up there and ripped it off so its not visible for a quick fix, but now I can fix it legitimately.

I had a problem just like this where i swear it was coming from the door/window area and it ended up being the center button on my left side steering wheel controls rattling around.
