    2003 Sequoia
Hello, I have been the owner of a 2wd 2003 Sequoia for a little over a year. I love the truck and am considering another one with 4wd for my wife and taking this one over and replacing my S-10 Pickup with it. I am not in the market for anything new. I am looking for pre-owned Sequoias and I have a question about engines. I know the 4.7, 4.6, and 5,7 are all great engines, but since I like to keep my vehicles a long time, I want to know what engine is most likely to last the longest? I am aware of 2 different 4.7L powered Tundras with over 1million miles and I want to know what engine is likely to go the farthest. The Sequoia replaces a 1992 Suburban with 430,000 miles on it, just for perspective.

    Welcome from Cypress, TX!

What year model Suburban did you put 400K on? I had an 04 Z71 that I put 200K on before I sold it. Lots of hard West Texas miles.

As you say, none of the three are a bad choice. I’d be deciding between another 1st gen or a 2nd gen Sequoia, and then go with whatever you find a good deal on in good condition.

I personally prefer the 1st gen but my wife likes the 2nd gen better. She likes both but prefers the 2nd gen while I like both but prefer the 1st gen. The early 2nd gen Sequoia was available with the 4.7 so that’s what I will focus on trying to find, but it won’t be a deal breaker for me if I find a nice one with one of the other two engines. I am not afraid of timing belts. I changed ours myself shortly after I bought it.
