When I was between 14 and 15 my dad , his friend a I restored a 47 ford coupe . I sandblasted it in side and out , primed , did body work , helped on painting ( 24 coats lacquer, hand rubbed) . Several years later Dad had his friend ( same guy as before) completely re do the car . Basecoat clear coat Richard Petty Blue, chevy small block from the sixties , 2 speed auto trans new interior . It has sit for sometime and needs all sorts of stuff. I Bought new edelbrock carb , new front calipers ( has mustang 2 suspension) . It has always ran on the warm side and the problem was no shroud around the rad fan. Last night I was messin around and fabricated one out of 40 gauge aluminum. I had no metal brake , used clamps and wood to make bends . Came oit decent ,atleeast I can confirm the shround will help the engine cooling , well see.20190503_211656.jpg

Awesome. Nice work. Do it yourselfers make the world go round! One of my first hotrod experiences was a neighbor of ours was rebuilding a ‘32 ford pickup. Let’s see the rest of the car.

From the size of that water pump pulley, the overheating problem has been going on since the engine swap.

SBC are not typically known for overheating. The problem may continue after your mod, because that appears to be the original flat head radiator with a patch over the right-side hose position (Flat heads had two water pumps and two sets of hoses, one for each cylinder bank). If your overheating problems continue, you should try to find a modern replacement radiator that fits for your SBC.
