Hey guys.. as you know, the 2004 tundra has terrible plastic knobs that control the A/C and Heat, etc.

Once I broke mine, I never bought new ones. I started using a pair of pliers to adjust the temperature, pressure, and where the air is blowing (ground, defrost, etc)

However, I ended up stripping the rod that the knobs go onto. Does anyone know the name of this part or know how to replace this piece? Thanks in advance, I appreciate your time!

Thank you so much for the links! Did you use the sealant from Walmart on your truck?

I hate that the switches aren’t cheap but I wish I could only find the part the knob actually fits onto.

Per these knobs: I had only one knob break years back. I salvaged the cracked piece and two part epoxied it together. The metal tensioner inside was no longer salvagable so I wedged a small piece of folded up blue tape inside the square hole on one side and inserted the knob back on the post. Created the perfect back tension and bite that the knob doesn’t fall off but still slides off for entry into the panel when necessary.

$14 is a great deal for new knobs though.

The 5200 is typically used on boats and because of that I know it's strong, and considered a permanent bond by 3M. If the switch stem is plastic then use a two part epoxy as earlier mentioned, or superglue as they work really good for plastic on plastic bonding.

You say "I wish I could only find the part the knob actually fits onto."
Unless your jury rigging, the switch stem that the plastic knob goes onto is not a replaceable part. It is a permanent part of the switch.
