I am hoping there are smarter people than me out there. Some details.

    1. 19 Tundra Sport
    2. Fortin remote start installed
    3. Remote start works to start truck.
    4. Easy install, t-harness install.
    5. Spoke with Fortin Engineer
    6. Lock/Unlock functions are on key itself.

Now, if I go to a convenient store to get coffee and want to put my truck in remote start mode I would press the lock button 3x, turn ignition to off and remove key. Truck would staying running to stay warm. With the 19 Tundra, according to Fortin, this cannot be done because the lock button is disabled on the key once it is in ignition/run setting. The question is, is this a programming change on truck or what is the solution if any. Thanks

I just installed this on my truck as well, and attempted to do this. I figured it was disabled as well. Would be nice but not a deal breaker for me. I had this ability on after market systems, and it was convinient. I guess we can just restart it when we get out.

I agree, yet i had to accept the fact that when I leave my light switch in auto setting the parking lights will not flash when unlocking when truck is remote started. Just have keep my light switch in off position when I want to use my remote start. Can be fixed with a relay, but not really wanting to attempt.

I noticed that too. Is it just the fact that you want to visually confirm the truck is unlocked with the flashing lights?

Yeah, plus when i start it from my office window to be able tell that it started. At night it is easy, all the lights are on because of the auto function. Daytime is the issue.

That makes sense. My DRLs in the headlights come on, but from the back yeah I guess you can't tell. I did read about the relay as well, but I agree it's a hassle.

Just a little disappointed. Had remote starts for years and never had these problems. Damn technology, haha.

Haha yeah I agree it's a bit disappointing it's not a factory feature. It sounds like you can get what you want with an aftermarket system though. I just really didn't want a separate remote on top of the key remote combo. If it was already separate like the 17s and earlier, i wouldn't mind replacing it with an aftermarket one.

Not sure if it's a 2018+ thing but I got my kit from T12V and lights flash when starting.

What trim level do you have? I think its related to the trim level when you get the auto light setting and the remote functions are on the key, not a separate fob. Now my lights do flash when I press to start but will not stay on or flash unlock.

Do you have a separate key fob for lock/unlock? And do you have the auto light feature. If not then your truck may not have these issues.

Just tried an experiment. I took my spare key while my other key was in the ignition. Pressed 3x on spare key to activate remote module to keep engine running and nothing. So i am not sure its a key problem. Somehow the electronics in the truck is turning off the reception of signals on the remote module when the eng is normal run mode.

You may not have the same issues. I did not have these issues on my 14 Tundra. Still like the Fortin product, very easy to install.

I think the problem could be because you're Air Force. LOL
