TRD Pros and CB+2s - lets see them

I’m taking the day off tomorrow to install my TRD Pro suspension and I have a set of the CB+2s sitting in the garage from the group buy a while ago. Can’t decide if I want to install them or go with something smaller like the +1. I like the leveled look but can’t stand the sight of trucks squatting in the rear. I’m not towing anything at the moment but I do routinely load the bed with decent weight. Will the +2s be too much? Will probably bump up in tire size slightly to 275/70 after the install.
Who’s running this set-up? Any pictures?

    Thanks!

I don’t mind the stock amount of rake and theoretically the +2s would leave me with about 3/4” less rake than stock..

I just installed 6112's at 1.9" and have CB +2 sitting on the bench waiting for install. Thanks for the pics wattmaker. Post up up more pics when your finished, I'm curious to see. I am also on the fence with +1 or +2 but I tow once a month and haul dirtbikes frequently so I'm leaning towards installing the +2's. I also have 275/70/18 tires.

Awesome, thank you! Perfect timing. That is exactly the stance I’m going for. Looks like I’ll be throwing these +2s on today as well. Just curious, did you install the CB drop kit that came with the shackles? I didn’t think it was needed for just over an inch of lift but it looks like it was included with my set?

I’ll have to figure out tire size next. If I recall you’re running 295s? No rubbing, trimming, cutting, spacers etc?
I’m tempted to go 275/70 to be safe but I don’t want my truck to look like it skipped leg day either..
    thanks again!

Does the TRD exhaust get in the way when installing the shackles? I thought I read somewhere it did.

I don’t know but I’ll find out in a few hours... I think I’ve read that it may come in contact during full articulation. Shouldn’t be a problem for me though as I don’t plan on doing anything crazy off road. Mostly open desert and fire roads.

No it shouldn’t get in the way. The shackles only become a problem when the axle is at full droop. The leaves will contact the tail pipe.

Well we got it done...started around 7:30am or so and managed to get all four corners and the shackles installed. Didn’t do the CB drop yet (included with shackles) but so far no noticeable vibrations. I figured that’s the easiest thing to go back and add if needed.
I was a little worried that the +2 would be too much rake but it ended up being perfect. In fact, we put the truck back on the ground before the shackles and although it was just about perfectly level, the body lines almost made it look nose high. Now I need some tires...
Shout out to @Watt maker for the clutch timing of pictures to help me make up my mind and @15whtrd for sharing the install instructions and for giving me the necessary kick in the ass to do the install. Thanks!
I’ll get better pictures tomorrow. For now I need a shower and a cold beer...

No clearance issues with exhaust either... Again, I apologize for the bad pictures.

Looks great man! I’m getting a set of +2 shackles this Saturday. We’ll see if I have time. Any tips on the bushings for the rear spring eyelets?

I went the easy route and did the tool rental from my local O’reillys. I’ll see if I can find the video that coachbuilder posted. That’s basically what I did except the leafs were still on the truck.

Looks awesome man! Mine goes on the rack tomorrow to do my 5100's @ middle (2shims driver, 1 passenger) with my +2 shackles.

    Any recently learned advice?

I bet it felt good to get it done yourself. It also gives you some knowledge on what went into it and can help you in the future if you ever want to work on them, or anything else to do with the suspension. Happy it worked out for you brother.

When I bought my cb kit I purposely went with the plus 2 kit because the 3 was way to high. It should sit near level of not just a touch higher in the rear.

Now I need to sell my full pro kit :(

I’d hold onto the kit. You never know if you’ll want to go a little higher or add bigger tires in the future. Unless you really want to sell it. I’m sure it would go quick if you put it on the marketplace.

Has Coachbuilder fixed the issue of contact between the shackles and the PRO exhaust when the suspension is in full droop?

It’s not really a Coachbuilder issue. It’s just the design of our trucks. Any shackle will change the mounting points of the leaf springs. Even Toytec mentions the issue with their shackles.

The “contact” isn’t the shackles hitting the exhaust, it’s the leaf springs hitting the exhaust. As stated, it’s not something Coachbuilder is causing or needs to fix. It’s the result of altering the geometry and will happen with all extended shackles.
